I can vouch for this.

Last week I turned half a bottle of cheap, foul whiskey into vodka using my brita. 10 filtrations yielded an alcohol with no taste or smell... though it maintained a slight yellowish brown color.

I will be buying $10 jugs of vodka and filtering from now on.

Boy is the world slow. Why do you think we use charred oak barrels in Ky for making our bourbon? We figured out what the charcoal does for spirits a long time ago.
Ky: makes 90 percent of the worlds' bourbon whiskey, yet the state is 70 percent dry. Go figure.

Start with 100% grain neutral spirits if you choose this for your poison. I heard years ago the cheap liquor biz started using petroleum products in their swill. Instead of filtering the cheapest you can get, filter the cheapest authentic product you can get. Wonder what filtering would do for wine?

My philosophy is if you can't afford the good stuff you shouldn't be drinking.

Sounds like you've never been broke and wanted/needed a buzz.

I believe Grey Goose and Belvidere are products of the same importer, much like Guiness and Bass. Country of origin is different, but the money all goes to the same place.

Belvedere and Ketel One

Ketel One is a mid ranged Dutch vodka that is an incredible bang for the buck. Very smooth, when chilled and mixed with Gerolsteiner mineral water its my favorite.
Belvedere is a high quality, decently expensive Polish vodka that is as smooth or smoother than Ketel one.

This is all a little odd. What is the flavouring in Vodka? Nothing. Nada. Vodka = ethanol + H2O

So, my cousin encourages you to try some laboratory alcohol, diluted to taste. The 100% ethanol version, not the 'gunwash' crap.
