That is an excellent way to put it. Do you know what I really love? Ideas. The life of the mind is fascinating and extremely satisfying. This place gives me a great outlet to express ideas, and a great source to receive them, from a group of people who appreciate the same things I do, even if they don't agree on them.

I enjoy everybody here, but not some of the interactions between certain ones. Kind of a mixed bag for me. But I can say that there's no one that I wouldn't enjoy meeting face to face, regardless of politics, religion, lack of religion, race, gender, or gender preference. Differences make the world go 'round.

Well...we tend to have money. Sometimes throwing money at a problem is the best you can do.

However, in the spirit of the initial post, I ofttimes feel challenged, amused, intrigued, bored, shocked, stunned, elated and/or confused by the postings on OD. Must be something here or I wouldn't be participating.

Botnst: Southern charm blended with scientific training
KV: Passion and persistence mated with sledgehammer subtlety
BD: In your face consistency
KerryEdwards: enough said
Elau: I find the frequent insights are worth reading
MedMech: Nails most of my points
Narwhal: Tolerant intolerance
Ricg: Another one from the upper left hand corner
Joe Bauers: Adds insight to my frequent right-of-center perspective
Zeitgeist: Tough to pin down, frequently surprising

Happy New Year and may some of your wishes come true.

Ciao for now,

Please look up Freud's "ID" part of the personality. You'll find yourself defined.

Here's my compliment to the group:

I think we'd make a halfway interesting TV show. Robert Novak, George Will, George Stephanopolis or Dr. Phil get pretty boring after a while. Pick a couple of threads a week and get 8 or 10 of us to sit around and spew out our everyday bull**** and I think the public might enjoy it. There's enough diversity in geography, age, politics, economics and religion that I think it could have broad appeal. It couldn't be any worse than lots of the talking heads shows I see on the tube. Of course, given Z's attitude towards TV, he'd have to appear incognito behind a screen.

By the way, what happened to Vronsky? Does he not know the shop has reopened?

You'd just have to periodically yell,"God dammit, put me on the pot."
