It can't keep doubling. I hope to see a time when having more children than the replacement rate (that's two and a bit) earns some general disapproval. Clearly it raises all sorts of interesting issues about personal freedom, but nature (how many people the earth can support) doesn't much care about that. Something always regulates populations - it can be voluntary, or it can be famine, disease and war. What's your take on this?

I agree completely. (Hmmm.....I'm agreeing with a lot of people tonight! I must not be feeling well, or something. )

Anyway, if the world's population continues to increase at the current rate of doubling approximately every 40 years, we're going to be in DEEP $H!T in about a century or so....Both figuratively, AND literally! Somethings got to give. People REALLY need to chill out and stop breeding........or else we'd better start working a LOT faster on that "colonization of Mars" plan!......

How 'bout something nice done to ME a few years back?

I was driving to work and needed to turn around through a parking lot. While in the lot, an elderly lady flagged me down. I stopped and opened my window. "Would you care to say a little prayer with me?", she asked. I said OK. She then closed her eyes and for a minute or so asked that God would bless me throughout my life.

She was a total stranger. I'll never forget her.

It is a potential hijack but it is a good point and maybe should be a thread on its own.

For the last 10 years, I have done all of the oil changes, and other routine service on my cousin's car. She has fallen on hard times and could not afford to do the things that needed to be done, when they needed to be done. 40 oil changes( with Mobil 1-the only oil I will use) I have never asked for payment.

I agree with that one, the being a good parent act trumps giving invalids a ride to dialysis daily in your S55.
