I'd trust a pit any day of the year. I have an Am Staff and a Pit myself. AFAIK, unless trained to, they don;t start a fight with other dogs. They will finish one tho. That is why I like them. Mine are confident enough that they tend to ignore other dogs. Anyways, dogs scratching my car will make me ask the neighbour what they plan do do to rectify it. Just as if they had a kid that came into my yard and tore up my yard. You fix it or we will go to court.

I'm chinese. My hair is trimmed neatly unless it is near deer hunting season where I like the warmth, Shaved around both heads, usually blue jeans and a decent T-shirt or a flannel long sleeved shirt if it is cool. Clothes have no holes or tears. No tatoos. Hung to my knees and wide around like a baseball bat.

Why would anyone want to own a dog that was bred to kill other dogs? I am sure there are legitimate fanciers of the breed - w126 sounds like he understands just what kind of animal he has and treats him accordingly, but these other bulletheads who own them for what seems to be some image purpose, or to fight them, ought to be locked up. We always have news stories about some kid getting killed or mangled, or some dopehead siccing one on his woman. Some towns have been banning them here. I see these idiots out walking the damned things, and if they go near another dog, the owner is lucky to keep control of the animal. I also hate the way they follow every movement of a small child with what looks to me like a natural predatory interest.

the thing is this...not everyone raises their dogs as we would...im sure all of us would raise our dogs to listen, and would punch them in the face if they ever tried to even look like they wanted to get froggy with us...but you cant trust how other people raise their dogs...if you pull up in your car and a big ass dog, no matter what breed, starts running at you that you dont know, youre either getting ready to kill this dog....or crap your pants...fight or flight ....you just dont know what is running throught their minds until they either bite you in the balls or lick you on the face....id trust my american bulldog with any kid, anytime....but i know this dog has never been beaten or mistreated, and my neice can pull on his ears and tail all day long without him doing anything....that doesnt mean for one second that id trust your american bulldog with her

Because life is just too boring without the risk of doing a little time.

I could think of a lot of things worth 6 years of my life for other than a dog.

They lifted the ban on pits this year in denver. good move.

I had no intention of adopting one, but when I checked the h.s. website I saw that she had been there nearly 4 months. I spoke with an employee and he said that most people that were interested in her were either shady characters, owned an apt, or were dinks looking to enlarge their penis.

There are similiar probs with Rottweilers and Dobermans which are also banned from many communities and ins. co's. My buddy down the street owns a mix and a pure Doberman. Just as docile as my dog -- a big baby. He also happens to live across the street from the dude who called the cops on me for following him home and asking why he flicked me off. Hmmmm..... Turns out that guy rents the house, the owner is a retired cop using it as income property.
Dobermans are nice dogs to those they know, but even docile ones are extremely terratorial - they plain do not like strangers. I would never have a problem with one raised with my kids, but they don't like the new neighbor's kids. They really need an environment where their security skills are put to work. I think they are great dogs for single females and others that don't have a lot of small children around. In my life the two best protective breeds I've seen for mixing with kids and their playmates are German and Australian Shepards. I like the Australians better because they will make a stand in front of the kids and warn you not to come close, while a German is libel to rip your head off if you surprise him. Both breeds will die for those kids if he has been trained to know his #1 job is to watch them. I know zilch about Rottweillers - were they originally bred to be fighting dogs? They seem pretty friendly if raised to be friendly.

When doing research on dog breeds, I noticed that Akitas, Dobermans, Rotts and Pits were at the top of the list. The Shar-pei (sp) is known to be nasty as well.
I have a Shar-Pei as well as a Rott. The Rott is the biggest baby and the Shar Pei (I have had 3 before) are just plain aloof. Never had a bad dog. Bad owner I have seen. Bad human, yes. Never met a dog I didn't like.

Yep, that's what I would be pi$$ed about the most too. I'd be knocking on their door and telling them that they owe me the cost of repairing the scratches, unless they want their illegally on-the-loose dog reported to the cops.

Breaks my heart when a bad human mistreats a good animal. I say shoot the human and place the animal in a environment where it's behavior can be corrected.

Never liked the idea of punishing the victim.
