Where did the thread go?

What happened to BHD's thread:

"What's with the left's fixation with Bush?"

One minute I'm typing and the next minute, it's gone?

Looks like Gilly or Engatwork deleted it because it was going downhill.

I don't believe it.

Nothing in that thread was objectionable.

I wonder if the BHD deleted it?

Seeing as how both mods seem to be online, perhaps it could be either one of them.

explanation

alright folks - the partys over

We (Bill, Gilly and myself) have about decided to pretty much get rid of political post altogether and it may take a little time. This was the example of what will be deleted. I have yet to see a political post stay within the bounds of a good debate without cussing, name calling and carrying on and frankly I'm tired of it. I have yet to see anything positive come out of a political thread in OD. Heck, I only read BHD's first post to realize that this one would end up going to heck in a haybasket. If ya'll want to talk politics I guess you will have to find another forum to post it. OD is NOT for verbal fighting matches - sorry.

Personally, I don't care if you are communist, liberal or republican - that is your business. Just don't call another poster a SOB because he/she don't see things your way.

This is about how a moderator feels in OD when it comes to political discussions:
An old man and a young boy were travelling through their village with their donkey. The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked.

As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding.

The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.

Later, they passed some people that remarked, "What a shame, he makes that little boy walk."

They then decided they both would walk!

Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.

Now they passed some people that shamed them by saying "how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey".

The boy and man said they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned.

The moral of the story?

If you try to please everyone, you might as well kiss your ass good-bye!

Egatwok, You raised a question now. Did PETA come after the old man and the boy? Was the boy underaged and thus immune to prosecution? Did social services come after the father for child abuse (making him help with the heavy donkey)? Did they have insurance that covered the loss of the donkey? Did they even try to save the donkey?

Nothing worse than some guy telling a story and leave things hanging. Now I can't get to sleep.

Ask too much of Him and he may smite yerass, thus demonstrating to you and us, that He is indeed, real. But then, some of us would say it would have happened anyway, that it was in your nature to be so smitten.

Anybody conjugate the verb, "to smite", on a regular basis?

Since I have met Gilly and he has worked on my car when it was at the dealership, I can say that he exists. The rest could be made up, figments of our imagination or maybe different personalities of the same person. Or it could be part of a "Mutt & Jeff" routine where there is one mod that is strict and the other is lenient and both trying to get information out of us.

he/she/it smites, smote, is smitten

we/they smite, smote, are smitten

etc.

either way, what i wonder is, how good of a shot does Mod have to be to smite the moving Azimuth? do i shout,"Serpentine! Serpentine!" as i shuck and jive around the board in evasive action?

Can i sin agaist Mod and repent later or is that manipulation?
