Is it ironic that a machine designed to work in 0 gravity got smoked by an unlikely suspect?

Of course omitting the rocket that puts it into orbit.

The boys at nasa are gonna have to go back to radio shak and get some sensors and such after the evaluation of the damage is done. After all, it has only been taking 4 months. Call in the diy and get him to fix it in 2 hours with some ducktape and welding equipment.

That picture of the satellite lying on its side is a keeper.

Even though I only saw the picture after reading the article, the first thought that came to mind was, "Those damned cats!"

Add another item in column "B" for this administration.

Column "B" is getting longer every day.

Why? I seem to recall reading that Hubble is supposed be replaced with a better telescope. While Hubble has served admirably once it's faults were addressed, technology improves. It's been a fascinating show with Hubble, but it's been up there way beyond it's original design specification. I won't get upset unless its replacement gets shelved. I, for one, am grateful to have seen some of the images that it has captured.

IIRC, it's replacement is something like ten years away and is to be part of the space station.

I think the cost to maintain Hubble is well worth the interim benefits before the "next best telescope" arrives.

Sadly, I agree with you but I give them a D+

The Bush admin has underfunded space exploration since day 1, but I'm biased space funding is my soft spot.

You guys do realize that NASA determines what and how much money is spent where from their budget............Bush doesn't control where NASA's money goes..........I spend a lot of time in Goddard throughout the year and a coworker worked there 15 years before coming to work where I do.
