Angry My kid broke my ipaq

Tossed it, face down, onto the tile. Display is shot. Can it be fixed?

Another $500 down the tube.

Sorry to hear that, Kuan...I don't think it can be fixed.
Did you by chance buy it with an AMEX card???

Nope, this was a cash purchase (checkcard) two years ago.

This year I've just been tossing money down the toilet. I broke my brand new cartop carrier by backing it into the garage door earlier this year, now my ipaq.

Very suspicious - Apple announces today that the new Ipods are all going to use color screens, and your old one 'accidently' breaks. Yeah, sure!

I broke my iPaq last year. It was in my pocket without a case and I walked into a chair. There's a single diagonal fracture across the screen. Everything works except it can't recognize where the stylus is so it's back in its box in the garage.

Heh yes John, but it's ipaq, not ipod. My wife looked at me weird though and had the same thought going through her head. Am I that transparent?

"but it's ipaq, not ipod."

Duh! Read too fast last night. I drop my Ipaq so often that I have a Rhino-skin armor cover on the beast - and it is useful. Last time it hit the ground hard enough that it spit the SD card across the room and needed a soft reboot, but everything still works. Downside is it almost doubles the volume of the Ipaq.

Narwhal . . . you should be reported to child protective services . . . converting him from one mind numbing, addictive activity to another more expensive one . . . I suppose next you're going to show him how to diagnose and fix old Mercedes-Benz's.

I'd call HP support and tell them what happened and ask for a list of local service centers. I couldn't find a list of service centers on the website otherwise I would have posted the link here. Ask the repair place how much it would cost for parts and labor to replace the screen. Based on that information you'll have to weigh your options. Good luck.

Spank?

I hope you are the kind of parent that spanks, when it's needed.

If you don't, you'll end up raising a liberal.

Look for a parts one on ebay. They are pretty easy to work on. The wallet case i was using with my palm wore the finish off the touch screen and the touch wouldn't work. I payed $30 for one that had a bad internal battery and bought a metal case. Everything has held up well to the numerious drops onto the cement garage floor.
