Command from Lady Bot

She demands that I be unfaithful.

Lady Bot saw a VW she liked. I asked what model and she said, "Cabriolet."

I asked, "Was it a convertible?" (it always helps for your wife to think your just one brilliant dude).

She looked at me with adoring admiration, "That's amazing, darling. How did you know?"

I paused, looked for wiggle room, found none, and told the truth (Damn! How quickly they find out).

So she says, "I want to drive one."

I know nothing about VW's since my buddies' 1962 VW van, 1958 bug, and a squareback from 1968 or so. I guess the modern ones are different? They look different, anyway.

It has to be a convertible. Guidance?

Bot

Oh yeah, she said it was a new kind of VW, not even one of those Bug-oids.

I'm thinking maybe a Golf? Does a Passat come in a Cabrio? The breadth of my ignorance is hard to describe.

Know a good VW forum like this one where I can sneak, lurk, and learn?

That all depends on you and your wifes attitudes toward practical jokes. I'm a joker and if I was standing in your shoes I would do my best to find someone who has an old VW Thing that I could borrow just for a special practical joke on her. "Here honey is your VW convertible." I'll let you take it from here.

If I use that description I'll probably not have to worry about owning one. Thanks for the tip.

Tell her it's a death trap and you wouldn't want to have to worry that she'll be killed driving it. If she wants a ragtop, only a CLK will do . . .

There is no guidance. There is no comfort. Recent events have stained this reality into the fabric of my understanding: She will do what she wants regardless of your allegiances to the benzcosm.

I've been trying to bring her to a soul-satisfying Benzgasm but I just don't have the light, SLKy touch.

Thanks, we just did that. It's the Golf. After looking at a bunch of them and reading some reviews (the ones from England are especially harsh), I'm trying to imagine why anybody would want one.

Oh well, she chose me....

When in high school and college, we used to refer to the Cabrios as ***** baskets.

I'm keeping my Golf for another year or so then trading it for a New Beetle convertible, light blue with the grey top and grey leatherette.

Find the most ill-running one you can find with front suspension damage and test drive that with her. Oh and try to leave one of them canister air-fresheners in it overnight, I used this one smelled alright before you opened it and then it burnt my eyes. I will never have grey interior again now because of the formaldahyde smell the PO left in my CE.
