I still remember watching parts of Ford's first LeMans victory. For a while teh American mfrs kicked-a$$ until the French changed the rules. I think they kept Carroll Shelby's Cobras out one year through manipulating rules. He swore he'd never go back and I don't think he ever did. After that buncha stuff, I quit following LeMans.

The French have one template for winning--manipulate the rules. Certainly wouldn't expect them to produce a supercar on 30 hrs/wk.

BTW, a friend of my brother built a Cobra kit car with a kettle-thumping V-8. His first test drive he wore shorts. Discovered that the sidepipes get real hot. Calls it a Cobra branding.
