A little off topic guys? Lets bring the thread back.

I would love to have the time to make fishing rods and tie flies. As soon as I get a little free time I would like to set up a little workshop in the basement to do this. Oh and build plane models again. I miss doing that.

I want to build a bambo fly rod, and a P-51 then a yellow Piper Cub with floats so I could land it on lakes ect.

Whatever you do - put 10% of you gross pay into investments starting RIGHT NOW. And bump it up every year by half your annual pay raise. And I do mean start doing a bit of research first thing in the am, do enough research to make an informed decision by Friday, then dive in Friday. Payroll deduction is best, but I am guessing that option is not available. I can't guarantee anything, but ask anybody on this board "If you had started at 18, investing 10% of your pay into above average risk stocks, how much would you have today?", I suspect the answer from each person would be "millions".

If you put 500/month into an anuual return of 8% for 40 years, you'd gross 1.8 million. If you bump that interest somehow to 10%, it becomes 3.1 million. That is assuming you never put more than 500/month in and you earn the yield monthly on the fund value. It is not adjusted for inflation and taxes. At that point, you could retire and live very very comfortably on the earnings alone, and leave the invested amount in your will to somebody or some organization.

If you wait 10 years to start, with the same strategy, the 8% return only grosses 756,000, and the 10% return grosses only 1.13 million.

Start today and don't stop kiddo.

Gerald Ford: "Tell me, Homer, do you like football?"
Homer Simpson: "Yes, Mr. President!"
Ford: "Do you like Nachos?"
Homer: "Yes sir!"
Ford: "How about you come over and watch the game, and we'll have some nachos. And then, some beer."

Build a 617 powered go cart

If you ever do that, I will fill the fuel tank, or submit 10 gallons of diesel, whichever costs less than a hundred bux... only if i can drive it

I dont know, get a job? Pay into the ss fund youll never get a penny from... Anyways making moneys never a bad thing, and if you cant do that, volenteere for your family, because THATS who cares about you...

Comming from a big family, with no father and alot of uncles, I'm the cheap labor of the family (used to be free, now i get paied sometimes )

I gotta say, working with your family has its ups and downs. I enjoy working with everybody (my grampa KICKS ASS), except my two cousins, whos dad is well off, and theyre both lazy, and the one a year older then me is a butthole... AND has different views on everything...

Anyways do something cool, and if you cant afford to, work. OR continue with your education, to earn more money, to do something cool with
