Any woodworkers out there?
Are any of you folks woodworkers?
I bought two Bailey No.4 planes for $25 on ebay. One has a corragated bottom. What is a plane with corragation ment for?

Another termite here. Spent a weekend with Roy at a timber frame workshop about 25 years ago, great guy.
Not sure what the corrogations on the plane are for. Picked up a like new Jet bandsaw for $250 and a nice cast 6x48 belt/10" disc sander for $125 from a neighbor who was moving. almost bought the same tools new last fall for three times what I paid my friend. Pays to wait for the right deal. BTW, love your blue wagon Biod300TD.

timber frame
I always thought that would be a blast, building a timber frame house. How was it? Tried any on your own since then?

I`ve never done a whole timber frame house but have done hybrids (exterior stud frame/interior timber frame) before and after the workshop. SIP exterior on an interior timber frame would be the ticket IMHO. Or forget the timber and do SIP skin on steel frame.

I do a little bit of woodworking now and then, not nearly as much as I would like to do. I find it very relaxing and there's plenty of time to think about stuff while you sand or plane. I'd much rather work wood than work on a car.
Roy Underhill was always great to watch. I'm not sure what channel he's on nowadays. The best thing about about him is his general demeanor and optimistic cheer. I swear the guy could cut his finger off and be all cheery and happy about it while he keeps on building his project. As for the plane you bought; if the blade on the plane is corrugated as well as the bottom then it's probably used for base boards or crown moulding or something of the like. Have you tried sharpening it yet? I've had good results from Japanese water stones on regular straight blade planes and chisels. Been wanting to try the piece of glass/sandpaper bit when I do the next project - after I get the 300D running and finish up the bathroom floor.
