XM also broadcasts over the internet. Not all the channels, but if you subscribe normally, you can get the online stuff. Seems silly to me if you have a real radio, but I guess if you work in the center of a building, and cannot get reception, you can listen at your PC while working.

we suddenly started getting XM channels on our satellite TV, way up on the channels in the 800's...I wouldn't have even known if the kids hadn't pointed it out the other day...

another happy customer
I have sirius in the 240D, and bought another antenna so that I could move the unit to the Wife's car if we were going somewhere together.
Overall, I'm moderately happy. The dance stations do have a relatively short loop of songs, but this is compared to local AM/FW which has no dance stations (I used to love driving through NYC for this reason....103.5 KTU... no longer needed with sirius 36 =) And Cincinnati isnt exactly "rural Ohio" (although some might argue that it is =) For the selection (how many channels ? even if I dont l like Stern ?) and the commercial free music...I'm sold for the year. You can also look at it like this sirius for a year - $170 Nice Ipod/mp3 player - $100 to $200 same cost range. Not a fair comparason, because the ipod will last more than a year (?), but you will always be limited to music/content you download and put on the Ipod (which still must be bought or aquired), Sirius requruies no such preparation - just plug it in and go. The question is - which do you prefer ? Now, if I'm in a car without sirus, I'm listening to NPR (gasp) , only becuase their commercial content is lower than the other stations... I'll re-evaluate this thing in a year.....maybe. -John -John

A) Cable started out that way... and we see how that worked out. B) If you care about ads, doesn't everyone have an MP3 or a 12-disc changer by now? Just a thought. |

Satellite radio and HD radio are two totally different beasts...
HD radio is digital broadcasts from terestrial stations, usually the same players broadcasting AM adn FM today. Satellite is exactlky that broadcast via satellites. Requires two totally different recievers.

Love them both. Once you go to XM or Sirus you can't go back. Looking to add XM to the SDL this year actualy.
Most new cars seem to come with one or the other now.
