I'm interested in finding the1989 260E that I used to own and traded about 2001.
It was Lt. Ivory with Palomino MB tex interior VIN: WBEA26DXKA869709. Carfax tells me it was last registered in Durham, NC. I'd like to buy the car back. Any ideas about how find it?

contact the dmv maybe?

Thanks, I already checked NC DMV on line. They don't seem to have a direct email, but there is a phone number.

There are a lot of people finder/asset locating services out there that could locate the car through the VIN#. You may not be able to get access to these services for your stated reason for wanting to find the car, though.

Alternatively, and I am not kidding, if you know anybody in NC, try to find someone who knows a State Trooper. They can find the car for you in less than 10 seconds.

Can I ask what is so special about this car that has led you to want to reclaim it after 5 years of seperation?

The NC DMV does not seem to be forth coming with how to get vehicle info - they consider it private information.

I don't know anyone who could contact a state trooper in NC. This idea did get a chuckle. Someone might lose his job trying this.

I did contact by email Leith MB, which should be close to where the car was last registered, asking if a car with that VIN number and discription had ever been serviced by them. I got no reply.

I gave info to 2 local MB dealers asking if they came a across a 260E in Lt. Ivory with palomino interior to contact me. I also did a seach on Autotrader.com and Cars.com. There were 2 cars on Autotrader on the west coast. Cost of transportation seemed counter productive.

I like the car a lot. I'd like to have my "old friend" back.
