Since the "other" Iran thread has gone to hell... check this out.
You know I don't support the Iraq War, and I CERTAINLY don't support going to Iran. It's clear that I think Israel should fight their own war if they feel they are being threatened, and leave us out of it.
BUT. Here's what Iran said about the US: "If you take into account the fact that they are not doing anything, this shows it is just talk," he said." From: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/20/AR2006042000518.html I don't know about you, but knowing the kind of administration we have right now, is that really wise? I swear I think they are egging us on and they WANT a war. Which leads me to think they can win, which makes me think that if we go into Iran, Iraq will be a joke by comparison. Yikes, is all I can say. Pete |

(Mods, kindly don't delete this. It would be nice to have a place to talk civilized about the Iran situation as it is clearly becoming a real problem.)
Thanks, Pete |

Saddam thought he could win too, not once but twice....you see where he is today. Don't think becasue that nutcase in Iran has a big mouth that he can back it up... The old saying " that dogs bark is worse than his bite" has lots of historical precidence.

Look where Saddam is today
That's true BHD, but look where WE are today. I was right behind Dubya at the beginning of this thing. I'm having second thoughts about much of what I was in favor of then.
Next time we decide war is our best option, maybe we need to start from the end and plan backwards. It would be nice to know how and under what conditions we will end/get out of the war before we start it. There seems to be a number of younger Iranians who are more favorable to the West and Western ideas, culture, etc. However, there's also nothing like a foreign invader to galvanize nationalistic feelings and bring support to a leader who might otherwise not have been so well-liked. |

I don't think you can compare Iran to Iraq. Not by a long shot.

iran
I say let the stupid mullahs build thier bombs then arrange for an untraceable "accident" to detonate one on their soil. That will make them even more popular with the masses who then might have the guts to overthrough the nut jobs. Trying to take them out w/ airstrikes would cause us too many problems I think. North Korea has had them for awhile and they are at least as crazy as the rulers in Iran and we don't worry about them too much. ?
