BMW 325I lease??
Anyone see the lease deals they are offering? About $400 a month, whats the catch?
These are fun little cars, I was pricing one out on BMW's website. With the sport package, and auto tranny its about $34k. They really nail you if you start adding options. I'm used to MB's so the idea of giving up leather is hard, but not at $2,900. The best part is the include maintaince and everything! Just drop it off at the dealer once in awhile and they do their thing, you never have to pop the hood! Anyone do a lease deal with BMW?

Mercedes was (don't know if they still are) offering leases on the C230 Sport sedan for $330/month for 39 months.
I think BMW has always offered competitive leases on the bare bones 3 series. Usually you will find there is somewhere in the neighborhood of $3,000 due at lease signing. Except for that fact, I don't think there really is any catch if you like the car.

I saw in the paper today, a lease progy with Mercedes Benz.
They offered an E350 on lease where you pay 14,000 upfront to lease it for 2 years. Got me thinking that the price spaced out would be about 500 a month...

Id rather lease a new little C-Class. I like the look of em, and they are inexpensive.
But for the $$, you could buy an E55...

Fish or work on the SDL! I'm done with wrenching on daily rides, so far the SD has been running perfectly, knock on wood. One more year for the SD and time for something newer... Wonder if I could get $3k trade in for it? I'd prefer an E350, thats a good deal actually $14k up front. I'm not a big C class fan personaly, but I havn't really driven one. I bet they get good mileage though. My friends sister bought a new CLK320 that is pretty sweet, I want 4 doors though. On their website BMW wanted $500 a month for 36 months for the 325I. So a total of $18k. @$400 a month $14,400. But the catch is $3250 due at signing. So you are right up to $17,650. I have seen E350's advertised for $579 a month. But then they have lease options on pre owned BMW and MB's I'm sure. Cart before the horse, I need to make the money first before I spend it!

Taxes guys...dont forget about those, some states, like IL for example, and its not a exception, they tax the whole purchase price of the vehicle when you lease it and at the end of the lease,if you want to buy it,they tax you again on the residual value...,so, if the ad stated: Lease a new BMW for 399/month with 3000$ due at beginning,it allways says in small letters+ ALL APLICCABLE TAXES AND REGISTRATION FEES...that for the 35000$ car, most likely will be another 2500$,so...its 6000$ down, nice chunk for something that you will keep 3 years and have MANDATORY insurance with 250$ deductible and only 10k miles/year(not 12k or 15k ike most generic brands),and the frosting on the cake is that you cannot trade in a lease before the end or at the end,and get tax credit on the car you are trading it in,because it is not YOUR CAR,so,you just drop it there and again pay full tax on the next car you are getting...insted of having the value of the trade substracted from the total value of the new car and the balance tax,so,please, bend over...

I'd either just own it in my name and write off the whole thing for business. Or own it in my LLC's name and lease it to me(at a loss maybe??) or something like that. (need to check into that
)But yeah I'd cover my tax's one way or the other. I'm not completly sold on this leasing thing one way or another, just looking as they say. But I'd drive the SDL a lot during the warm months so mileage really wouldn't be a problem.

It's a waste of money!! That $400 bucks can be going into your 401K or some type of investment that will only grow with time. Think about it, you are paying someone all this money each month and then at the end you have nothing--no money saved and no car. Also, in my state you need to have full coverage when you lease a car so make sure to add that in too.

Yeah thats more or less what the logical side of my brain is saying. When the SD goes, I'll probably be better off just buying a used W210/211 and driving it for 6-8 years. When it comes down to it I'm cheap, cars are a waste of money and I'd rather bank the difference then be driving it.
