Best of luck Julio!

So they used a stent to allow the stone to pass, or am I misunderstanding this?

The ureter is so irritated by the surgical laser/basket that a stent is required to keep it open.

Premature removal of the stent generally causes/allows the ureter to spasm = try to contract into a knot = mortal pain.

That sucks. Wife accidentally yanked out stent not an hour after we got home from the surgery!

Doc said it's okay but look out for possible infection.

So far so good, but she is having some back pain on the opposite side of where the stones were discovered. Monitoring the situation as it progresses. Otherwise, she's back to work and normal activities.

I hope there are no complications.
Back pain is normal.

Glad you got past that finally....it made my groin hurt just thinking about it and I've been lucky thus far to have not had them.

I would have cut my finger off to make it stop but I probably would not have even noticed that the finger was gone. I was laying on a gurney and trying to crawl up the wall with my legs to get into a comfortable position. After cursing out anyone and everyone within eye shot I was finally given something and it dropped me into never never land for about an hour and I must have pissed myself and passed the stone or whatever as the pain was gone. Someone called my wife, I don't remember how they got her number. Got home and slept for about 24 hours straight. I have had 4 episodes, they seem to go in 3 year cycles for me.

My thoughts and prayers for anyone with them!
Just went through a major episode in early Oct. which resulted in an ambulance ride at 3am to the ER. Very stressful event as my wife was just released a few days earlier from the hospital after major surgery... I had discomfort earlier in the day, went to bed, woke up to use the bathroom and all holy hell breaks loose. I dropped to the bathroom floor, how long I am not sure, hada brief respite where I could get up again and I made it to the living room floor, stretched out on my back, moaning and wailing like crazy I had no recollection of where my phone was and was too incapacitated to get off the floor so the screaming worked its intended purpose of rousing my wife from bed on the other side of the house. Luckily the local fire station is about a mile away The ride was crazy with pain and I think I tried to bail out of the ambulance when we crossed a couple bridges so I could end the misery!! They had to tighten the restraints because I was wiggling and squriming so much. The whole ride I was screaming profanity and cursing every twist and bump and raging on about these F'ing kidney stones. I knew the symptoms and pain and I convinced them it was kidney stones. They got me into the ER back room very quickly, had a quick scan or xray...not sure which it was to confirm the stone(s) and they tried Toradol(spelling) and then ended up with 2 doses of Dilaudid. The Toradol and first Dilaudid didn't make a dent in the pain past 5 minutes. I think I finlly slept for an hour or so after the second D dose. I went home around 11 that morning with a urine strainer and pain meds. I passed a smallish stone a few days later but I am still dealing with recurring bouts of severe pain and general achy feeling since then. Haven't had the need for the powerful juice they gave me in the ER but a couple of times my fingers were on the second #1 in 911

I have started the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar treatments about a week ago. Wish me luck. I have also heard that magnesium is good to get rid of the stones as well. I started taking 400mg of magnesium and b6 three times a day.

Seems as though my 3 year cycles are being cut to 2 years

Myth: Alcohol causes stones

There is concern that the diuretic effect of alcohol may cause dehydration and be a risk for stone formation. Interestingly, in studies, beer and wine were found to significantly decrease the risk of stone formation. While it is not recommended to overindulge, moderate alcohol use will not increase the risk for stones.
I guess I'm in good shape then.

All seriousness aside, holy crap, the accounts here are harrowing. I'm wondering if there's any sort of hereditary connection. My father never had them, I haven't so far, knock on wood.

Here I go again.

Three days of progressively worse pain.
Doctor ordered me in Thursday, may put me in the hospital this time.

The alternative is pounds of heavy drugs, and daily Dr office visit, with ambulance on speed dial.

This really sucks, Roy. I hope it isn't too painful this time.

I grabbed a live (cranking) ignition coil wire yesterday and did not notice, until the arc from my hand was pointed out.

I don't think that the AMA has endorsed that treatment method.

Get well soon!
