Here is a shot of my back yard garden. I also have a couple of plots at the community park gardens. I get a shot of that tomorrow.

You like the pot method,eh?that's how I grow my tomatoes.

I really like the red cedar shakes. Is that a '20's bungalow?

Nice yard, you could do a commercial for Scott's Turf builder. Your grass looks like green velvet...when I retire I want a house with a yard...and a cloths line.

Pots can be very productive with the proper attention. They require more watering and fertilizing. The real reason behind the pots and raised bed garden is more to do with the location I live. The north end of Tacoma, WA has the legacy of the Asarco copper smelter. Although I live outside the hot zone, I had the soil tested when I moved in and it was still below EPA standards for arsenic, slightly elevated, I choose to error on the safe side.

Nice call on the house! My home is 101 years old, built in 1905. I am in the process of totally remodeling the entire place. The interior has had a major refit; electrical, plumbing and such. The previous owner cut the living room in half to get a third bedroom, I will be removing that wall this fall. The house is 845 sq. ft. with two garages.

A 10x20 which was the origional carriage house, now 95% remodeled with a concrete floor and driveway, electified, insulated, finished in recycled cedar and pine fencing.

The 16x30 shop I build last year. Still needs to be finished on the interior.

The landscaping and exterior has been the major priority for the last year or so. New block rockeries all around. The cedar siding was put on just before I bought the place. It was untreated. I cedar washed the entire place and am now in the process of staining. What a pain in the you know what staining cedar shakes is. I see why most people end up painting the darn things. I hope to get 8 years out of the stain. It is warranted for 6 but I am putting it on extra heavy.

The gardens keep me sane or close to it.

My garden is an abomination and should be shot or should I for the neglect, but my wife maintains some incredible roses that are original to our 2nd owner, 1928 English Tudor. I also receive a regular bill from some guy named David Austin that is apparently very proud of his roses I will try to take some pics.

Before you get pissed at me on another thread, Carleton , your garden is awesome, and I still remember the pics from last year. Bot and I know a dude that has the same general theory as you do and you may want to check out pics of his stuff http://www.felderrushing.net. He is a botanist of some renown and will gladly answer any questions you may have via email. The departed Bonehead corresponded with him regarding some fruit trees and was very complementary of the response.
