I have the same problem with unnecessary bulkiness in my pants, every time my wife sits in my lap.

My pants have three legs now. Solved the bulkiness problem, plus now I don't fall over as much when I've had too much to drink . .

I'll tell you what... with a few marathons under my belt, I can assure you that, overall, the better distance runners are "older." A lot of it is mental -- willing your body to keep running after the 22 mile mark or so. That's where I fall back and start having to take walking breaks. Invariably, one of the older guys on my team passes me up at this point... then another... and another. I can keep up or even outpace them for 3/4 of the run (not that I am fast, by any stretch), but they are just able to maintain their pace throughout and keep right on running through any mental obstacle.

My hat's off to marathoners. I don't think I've ever finished one w/o tearing up a little bit at some point; those guys and gals are awfully inspirational. Before you give me a hard time for admitting that, YOU pass the guy with the running shirt dedicated to a deceased wife, or long-passed fellow Marines, or a disabled family member. Better yet, try to keep pace with this guy without balling like a baby:

Well, that's better than me. I am 38, and I've found I don't have the skills to run on a treadmill. I have tried and tried and tried, and humiliated myself at hotel gyms all over the country. I have been run right off the back of a treadmill, and fallen off from side to side.

I finally gave up, and only run outdoors.

Well put. Marathoners have gone into a realm where I don't believe I'll be able to travel. I didn't like racing over a mile in my prime, I guess I'm a little too thick for the really long races. That and my knees would protest like hell if I trained for even a 5000 meter at this point.

Oh well, biking, swimming, walking, and the occasional wind sprints will have to do. Every now and then, I can pick up and sprint and damn, that feels good.
