Until time has walked a mile on foreign soil in my boots he will never get it. That is my opinion it's not intended to insulting or demeaning. At Christmas time this year I will have more family members in the Middle East than gathered around my Christmas tree.

Maybe it's time to put a call out for all Christian people in the world to take the offensive. To hell with nationalistic politics and get right to the heart of the matter, this is a "holy war". Anyone who starts preaching that Islamic nonsense outside his respective country should be put to death, consider it treason against civilization.

Maybe the Pope should revert back to the good old days of creating crusading armies made up of loyal Christians and Jews to beat back those Islamic bastards. Just maybe this isn't about Nations and and politics, but more about our religions against theirs. A new 21st century crusade. Do you think the Christians (and Jews) could unite under a religious banner instead of the political one that divides us as a country and as western cultures?

Certainly an alternative to think about. It worked in the past against the same enemies and under similar circumstances.

You said on a post a while back that if anyone were to invade this country, you'd put the Geneva convention standards on a shelf and cause the invaders grief on your own dime. Sounds a lot like what the insurgents are doing. Suppose they were to pass out some clothes and meals? It'd be OK then? Maybe they gave candy to your kids? I guess you'd invite them into your home and let them use you hot tub in that case.

This self serving, impossibly heroic view of our troops that you and many other Americans have is just not accurate. Many of them mean well, of course, and are just as appalled at the Abu Gharib night shift and inbred, hillbilly boy Green (gonna get some, hyuck-hyuck) as I am, but they are up against an impossible situation: we bombed hell out of the place and slaughtered many of the naiton's youth on our way in. Laying waste to Fallujah sealed the deal.

We will not be welcomed as dispensers of food and clothing in Iraq in our lifetime.

Earth to MedMech: come back to us.

(editorial note: MM is unlikely to read this. He's above criticism, just like our military)

Perhaps you should use country that was run by a militaristic Dictator that invaded his neighbors, gassed his subjects, attempted to assasinate foreign leaders and was constantly pursuing better and more efficient ways to kill people throughout his reign as an example country to be invaded rather than the US.

It would be more contextually accurate.

BTW, on what basis do you claim that we will never be welcome in Iraq and that Fallujah was a "deal sealer"? You certainly have no historical basis for forwarding your opinion. Does it have anything to do with your opinion that Middle Easterners are too stupid to be democratic?

Belief?

You guys believe that any invading we've done is ancient history (Nic., VN) and yawner material at that. The fact that we more or less sponsored Saddam against Iran, a war that Saddam started, doesn't seem to bother you. And that we took his side against Iran owing to Iran's lack of affection towards us for having manipulated their gub-mint and having placed troops -- air bases -- in their nation further seems of no concern to you. Iran's evil. End of story.

The belief that is most dangerous among YOU GUYS is that we are the good guys -- automatically, eternally, unalterably. We can do no wrong. Ain't that right?

How much do you know about what Falujah is like now or how the former inhabitants have fared?

Look at how we are inspired to fight the foe over 9/11. Fallujah was 9/11 raised to the 4th power. There are videos available showing footage of the aftermath of Fallujah and interviews with Fallujahns. You've seen them?

Who am I kidding? This is the kind of question you ignore.

Find the information yourself. I've wasted too much time already on your imperialistic arse.

You don't get it. Iraqi resistance to us has little to do with whether or not they want to be democratic of are smart enough to be democratic. They don't trust us -- in spades. Democracy had been made a bad word among Iraqis and guess who made it so?

Dude: civil war has BROKEN OUT. 50 deaths a day = 18,250 per year. We have slightly more than 10 times their population. Imagine 182,500 Americans were dying in sectarian strife yearly. Uhh, that would by more than 3 times the number killed in Nam and about half the number killed in WW2. Only this figure would be in ONE YEAR.

Wake up dude. Shed those scratced up rose colored glasses.

Bother me? Heck no, I loved it! Two lunatic-ass countries bashing the snot out of each other (instead of attacking neighbors friendly to us) gives me goose-bumps. I wish we could have helped them at it for another 30 years -- which would not have involved us straightening their silly ***** out.

Are you serious? Why do you always want to talk of these matters in right and wrong as tho they really mean anything. Good guy, bad guy, etc, etc are all words by govts. Govts say plenty, believe in few things and do even fewer. BTW, don't forget the hostage situation with Iran. Yes, we did this, that or the other. Oh, look at Iran today. It supports Hezbollah. What of it all? I realized that right and wrong, good and bad are all words a long time ago. EVERYBODY does this or that for their own good. It is par for the course. Of course, we talk of right and wrong and god being on our side (when I say we, I mean the world) because we want to sleep better. Yes, Iran is evil. US is evil, Syria is Evil. List goes on. Fact of the matter is that (insert nation here) do this, that or the other because it is in (insert nation here)'s interest. If the entire US population were moving to another planet, do you think we would care if (insert nation here) did something that would kill everybody left on the planet?

On second thought, I'd consider this post of yours typical of your style. If the question hits too close to your comfort center, attack the questioner. To hell with the question, that question being, paraphrased, if Iraqis bombed their way into this country, if they broke down your door at midnight for a search lasting several hours, including dumping your food on the floor and sifting it with their boots, making you lie on your face on the floor in your own home, and then gave you a few hundred bucks to fix your door (exchange rate adjusted), are you going to GAS that they give out some food and clothes and give candy to your kids?

Don't get me wrong. I don't fault our guys for doing that. What are they supposed to do? "Excuse me sir, if'n ya'all have any weapons, explosives, etc., could you please give them to us so we can get this democracy thing up and running? Oh, you don't have any? Sorry to bother you. Have a nice day, ya'all. Here, have some candy."

The mission was doomed from the start and plenty of people tried to point that out. If they keep bringing that up, just fling some loose debris on them and make them shut up.

I wish I could be as sanguine about it.

Do you think there's any chance that part of why Iran is determined to bring us to grief has to do with supporting the invader and ********* Saddam? And this on top of the Mossadeq/Shah insult? Not that I'm quaking in my boots at Iran but fact is they could inflict hurt on us -- not take us over or destroy us but cause serious harm.

Old African proverb: If you $h!t on the trail, you'll meet flies on the return.
