Thank God I didn't fall for this scam!!

Just to be safe, I changed the website address below in case there's a virus.

Dear Barclays Member:

It has come to our attention that your Barclays account information needs to be
updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to
reduce the instance of fraud on our website. If you could please take 5-10 minutes
out of your online experience and update your billing records you will not run into
any future problems with the online service.

However, failure to update your records will result in account suspension.
Please update your records on or before September 08, 2006.

Once you have updated your account records, your Barclays session will not be
interrupted and will continue as normal.

This email was sent by the Barclays server to verify your e-mail address. You must complete this process by clicking on the link below and entering your account information . This is done for your protection , because some of our members are no longer have access to their online access and we must verify it. To verify your e-mail address and access your bank account,

It reads like the e-mails I have been getting lately for my Comcast account. It also prompts me to update my personal billing informantion. What gives away to me was it asked for my SSN and the 3-digit code on the back of my debit card.

The scarey thing is that they send millions of these emails out to people. Most figure out the scam, but there are those very few........

The tip is...REAL sites NEVER ask you to confirm your personal info, either via e-mail or phone. And the attached links are always bogus.

Phishing does occur often..I usually get bogus PayPal e-mails. They are getting better and more convincing at their game though...

I get one of those bank emails a week. If the bank had a problem with my account, I wouldn't be notified through email. If it looks odd, simply delete it.

Pay Pal scam is very frequent with me. Unfortunately the scammer is using an email account that is not registered with Pay Pal Clue #1
