Well I guess there is no law against being weird, so you can't really nip this problem in the bud so to speak.

I blame a lot of it on "our" news system and TV Think about it this is an "copycat" type thing and the reason I say there is much to blame not all of it however a good deal on the News system is how they sensationalize the bad things and a major amount of the news is negative that along with the hugh amount of violent programming in the movies and on TV we see that you must realize that a person that is in the 30s (like me) that is the major thing we have seen on TV and in the Movies for almost our entire life has been violent programming. By no means am I defending this *!#%$##e however I am saying people are becoming less sensitive to crazzy acts since it is the "norm" in movies and in Kids shows along with what many say is the most depressing time of the year for many. So theses off balance persons just snap. You can guard the schools better but thats just a "patch" for the real problem.

This is an Amish schoolhouse. Of all the senseless acts of violence, this one totally eludes me.
Best I can gather this guy had no connection to the Amish but chose this school cuz it was more secluded and less likely to have security.

Some whacked out people running around and it appears their number is growing.

at least the killers usually commit suicide...we don't have to waste money prosecuting them.

My wife, who is 50 years ahead of her time (she says, because she is an Aquarian) had a 2-word response to why people are doing these horrific acts: day care.

Now I wonder how many of these whack-jobs were once day care kids who never established parental bonding early in childhood? Just a thought.

while reading the story I noticed a pic of these Amish people....they sure look weird.

by the way, the gunman went all out...check out all the weapons he had

Miller said Roberts was apparently preparing for a long siege, arming himself with a 9mm semiautomatic pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun and a rifle, along with a bag of about 600 rounds of ammunition, two cans of smokeless powder, two knives and a stun gun on his belt. He also had rolls of tape, various tools and a change of clothes.

What does the FBI think of bump keys and bullet proof vests?

Here is a good response as to what is happening to our society...this was written by a teacher. Here are more letters:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15109669/

Quote:
No, I certainly don't feel safe at school. I'm a teacher, and it is becoming increasingly more difficult to walk into the classroom and function in a normal manner. Teachers fear reprimanding their students — wondering if this one might come back with a gun because we told him to sit down and be quiet, or to stop yelling in the halls! As a result, the classroom environment is more chaotic, the kids are virtually in control, and school is simply an unpleasant place to be for both teachers and students. I love my job. I love the kids I teach. But daily I ask myself if the $980 I get every two weeks (after five years of teaching and 15 credits towards a master's degree) is worth it. Folks wonder why the school system seems to be going in the toilet. They should instead ask themselves why, given the level of danger, the lack of appreciation and respect, not to mention the paltry income, any intelligent person would, in today's world, chose to teach?
