Could be true when taken to extremes. I've heard now and then that daycare helps to establish social skills early on. I think it would depend a lot on whether or not the kids were getting much attention after day care and how early it starts.

All in all though, I agree -- too much of it -- parents too busy.

The few Amish I've run across were pretty cool -- very strong and honest.

Watch the movie "Witness" for a small taste of Amish life. I'm sure it's far from a completely accurate picture but it's a start.

We're gonna get you educated yet.

Pete: What do you think is causing this to happen? A few years back I thought it was pretty sad to see parents sitting with their children at the bus stops in the morning...my heart goes out to all the parents who have to think about their children's safety on a daily basis.

by the way, the gunman went all out...check out all the weapons he had

Miller said Roberts was apparently preparing for a long siege, arming himself with a 9mm semiautomatic pistol, a 12-gauge shotgun and a rifle, along with a bag of about 600 rounds of ammunition, two cans of smokeless powder, two knives and a stun gun on his belt. He also had rolls of tape, various tools and a change of clothes.
I read your post, Kamil, and I can't say I'm surprised by this inane observation. I wasn't going to bother responding. Then I read the details of just what this guy did. They way he lined up 11 Amish girls, ranging in age from 6 to 12, tied their hands behind their backs, and shot them execution-style in the back of the head. The last I read, 5 of them are dead now. The others are in critical condition. One of the victims apparently died in the arms of the police officer who pulled her from the schoolhouse. And after reading that, I just couldn't let this one pass.

I truly and honestly hope for your sake that you just make these kinds of posts because they attract attention and in some way provide you with a sense of validation. Because the alternative is that you are entirely without compassion and are fully and completley without emotion. A person like that would have nothing of value to offer the world in any way, shape or form. A person like that would be a complete waste of the potential that their parents nurtured. It is truly sickening.

Is there not some sort of forum where you can share your infantile observations with people of like minds? Where you and other emotionally bereft people can talk about how different the Amish look, and how "cool" it was that this man loaded up for Armageddon. Where you can make racist observations about Muslims and Asian women and anyone else that doesn't look, talk or act exactly like you do Your presence here cheapens us all. I wish you would either grow up or just go away.

I am not Amish, but I got tears in my eyes when I saw the grief in the faces that were in the picture and read the the denigrating comment about the Amish being "wierd". Talk about kicking someone when they are down. This isn't right and I still don't know why someone who doesn't own a Mercedes is allowed to make racially charged comments here. Oh well, I guess it keeps the post count up and that brings in more ad dollars.

This statement is so absurd and irrelevant, I am just too astounded to even argue about it right now....

The Amish are not a "race"....

But that's just nitpicking... Sorry, it's in my nature.

I do agree with your sentiments, though... That comment is FAR from being the first time that Kamil has demonstrated his immaturity and shallowness.

However, as juvenile as his commentary may be, I don't support censorship. So in my opinion he should be allowed to continue to post such things, and if he makes a fool of himself in the process... so be it.

I see your point, and I stand corrected about the Amish not being a "race". In the great scheme of things, censorship is a bad thing, and I'll leave it at that.
