Highest maintained speed?

I came home at about 4am last night, and a trip that shoulda taken me about an hour, took less then 40 min... Mainly because the highways were deserted at that time, and I was maintaining between 90 and 100 MPH for a good part of it. I passed 2 cars, and the same amount came from the oncomming direction.

I was kinda in a rush when I left, and just kept up the pace for the ride home... I think If I was doing the speed limit, I'd have fallen asleep. It was a 55, and there's alot of deer. I just put new brakes, and rotors on the car, and broke them in earlier yesterday.

ANYWAYS, I was just wandering if I'm unusual in holding a speed around 2X the limit, or If I'm a wuss, cause I wasnt doing 3x the limit (doubt the car could do it anyways, but...)

Got a story, post it...
I guess that's what OD's about, but whatever.

My opinion --

inexperienced driver (you are only 16) + middle of the night + you're tired + 30 year old car + lots of deer + driving double the speed limit = disaster

do you have euro lights on that car? If you don't that's even worse because stock lights on these cars are horrible. Sounds dumb if you ask me.

I was in the trofieo... high beams, and my hella 1770 fogs were both on... I had exelent visibility.

There's no way the benz could maintain that speed, it's screaming at 85...

yeah, it was stupid, and I should know better, but I was on an adrenilin rush...

Every see crank? That kinda rush...

guess I'm the only misbehaving youth to ever roam this earth

how much more experianced can I get? I know that car inside and out. It's a predictable, heavy, FWD car with a low CG... Want the ass around, turn and brake sharply... Want the ass back in line, floor it........ The tires start to scream before I get into too much trouble anyways.

this was a nearly streight streach of road, highway 93 south

good luck

You'll probably hear lots of crap from people here but oh well. When I was your age I was driving a Twin Turbo 300ZX. Nothing like driving fast, heck most NJ drivers are doing 90 every day.

I hit 130 with my TT all the time. I don't cruise at that speed but when there is an open stretch I bring it up in that range for a few seconds. It feels really good going that fast in a two seater while the top is down.

75 is dangerously slow !!

Drove from Chicago to Dallas the other night. Did about 440 mph the whole way. Didn’t see any deer. No cops anywere. Not too many folks on the road either. Did see a few folks pass going the other way, in a far different lane.

Well....ok. Maybe I had a little black box doing most of the driving for me. But I was still there behind the wheel !!

Well....ok. Maybe it was really called a yoke. But.... I really was going that fast !! For a long time !!

(and we all thought Cammie could be a..... )

if you put the carbon fiber lip spoiler and fender flares you'll go faster.. it adds like 15hp.. and the carbon fiber shift ball adds 5 hp

How were you able to secure the jet engine to the roof?
