I don't understand why people are so afraid of it. There is nothing to be afraid of. If nothing else, it will actually be BETTER because the animals will be more healthy.

NO WAY JOSE!!!

Too new for me to be a test subject. We don't know where the current HyBrids, in plants and animals will lead down the generations. Many countries will not buy or use our grain products, because of their caution and fear, of the possible dangers. May be nothing to worry about, but I am cautious and will pass, at this time.

I don't use the general standards of right and wrong. I have different rules to work with.

i am not afraid to eat it but the concerns about collapsing food supplies seems like a valid one.

we already suffer from disease spreading too easily because of our huge fields of all one crop and so forth.

i can't see it as a big advantage.

a few years ago there was a fellow in england (?) who had a holstein cow that produced a huge amount of milk. 20 or 30% more than most. so they were all excited to clone her and increase the milk supply by this huge amount. then one day she dropped dead, at a young age for a cow. heart attack maybe i cannot remember. sometimes there are good reasons that animals and even humans don't stand out hugely.

I don't follow. What has cloning her got to do with the cow dropping dead? In fact, that is a good reason for cloning. You get the same cow that produces more milk. Higher efficiency.

my point was that cloning her would not have gained much since she died so young. i guess i am thinking that her unusual rate of milk production was directly related to her early death.

what good would it do to raise up a cow to milk producing age and get her up and procucing mass quantities of milk to have her die young?

Well, if no autopsy was done and we don't know why she died so young it would be difficult to say. However, if the cow contracted some illness and died, who cares? If the cow died of a genetic issue, cloning would also replicate that issue and the clone would die. So, until we know whether the cow died because of some congenital issue or not, we don't know. However, it would be nice to clone this animal because of it's output if it wasn't congenitally flawed.

Roughly my take as well. I understand that Dolly the sheep showed signs of being the same age as the animal she was cloned from in some ways, though her chronological age was, of course, younger. A bit dicey, IMO.

Perhaps. But How does it relate to anything here?
