Heating threadlocker out of a lock?
My wife decided to lubricate our gate lock by using threadlocker blue. Obviously, she didn't know what she was doing. I was thinking of taking the lock off, holding upside down, and heating the insides to "melt" the threadlocker so it would "drip" out.
Think it'll work?

how are u gonna take the lock off, if it's filled with threadlocker?
Yeah, it "might" work, but who knows. Is it a special lock, because I dont think ur gonna save it... ~Nate

HAHA! It's called "Loctite" not "Locloose"!!!!!! I'd try MEK in a syringe. Make sure to lubricate well afterwards. WD40 works well on locks for me.

Hopefully, she didn't use the red threadlocker. Heat might help free it up, but I would submerge it in kerosene overnight to get the residue out. IMHO.
When I was a little kid, my dad came in after mowing the lawn and opened the Frigidaire..... and picked up what he thought was apple juice and started to chug it down. He started to heave when realized it was... vinager. He wasn't thrilled, to say the least. |

This is sooo funny. Crap, I'm still laughing. I'm so sorry for being such a jerk, but this is better than any joke I've heard lately.
I can picture my wife doing this and what my reaction might be. I'd probably be still laying in the snow laughing so hard! Or I might be in jail. I just don't know.

When my wife called and told me what she did, I was laughing at her for a good hour. She's a good spirit and took it well. She now knows what threadlocker is, so it's been educational.

Acetone should disolve the loctite, along with any paint or plastic it comes near.

If all else fails, paint remover seems to assault anything it comes in contact with.

It's a brass lock - so I'll try the soaking in acetone.
