Are you sure U-Haul even employs mechanics? We had a 40 foot diesel truck with no brake lights and if you went outside while someone turned the steering, you could hear a groaning of the suspension a block away. Then it refused to even crank after we turned it off. We got some lunch to cool off and came back and thankfully we got it started.

Even the experienced ones will be lucky to break $14/hr after a few years in their big shops. The majority of their maintenance/repair workers are paid $7-9/hr. Even the low pay workers are required to log the work they do to the trucks down to every 5minutes they take on a specific task. They even have an entire book for each vehicle model that lists every possible task down to the minute it should take. They demand you bust ass every minute of every day you are on the clock.
Not at all a fun job and I would not recommend it to anyone. (I bet you can tell I don't like them )
