I'm not a NASCAR fan by ANY means....

But I had a chance to drive a number of laps in an actual stock car at Talladega speedway, and after experiencing it for myself, I can testify that they ARE powerful, scary cars, and at 170+ mph, a LOT of skill and concentration is required to keep them moving in the desired direction. The tiniest little bump or imperfection in the track feels HUGE. Fun, but also scary.

And I was the only car on the track, for the most part!

I can't imagine how insane it must be when you're surrounded by 20 or 30 other cars at that speed, all trying their best to get past you!

After the experience, I'm STILL not a fan of that type of racing... It bores me to watch it... But I now have a LOT of new-found respect for the driving skill involved. It may look like they are merely driving arond in circles, but they are also driving their a$$es off.

Mike

I echo this post and agree completely--but my experience was at Charlotte.

I used to love NASCAR racing back when I was a kid, but don't find it that interesting anymore. It seems like thousands of spectators just waiting for an accident.
