Actually since you mention billboards you ought to see the ones on Market St. and Castro St.
What is ridiculous is that they are free to be offensive to those who are not party to their predilects, (billbords of semi nude men caressing etc. with logos such as ARE YOU GAY? (ads for gay.com) and other equally sexually poignant very large full size ads. Not to mention the overwhelming gay flags hanging everywhere, with the city's blessing and funding. If another group tried to push agenda like that, they be censored for being offensive and potentially hurting the sensibilities of some other group. I watched the o'reilly factor by chance this evening and got an ear load of this one sided agenda. The LGBT group (gay) spokeslesbian or something, tried to accuse o'reilly of bashing gays etc. he got her by asking for specific incidents. one cited was publicly corrected as having been reported with flawed information. o'reilly had not done the reporting anyway. But he did force the reporter to appear on the show and apologize for the flawed piece. That pretty much made the build up of her 'outraged at o'reilly' argument'. he beckoned for more examples and she said there's many. pause. well she cited the opinion of a guest lawyer. OPINION. Not o'reilly's but someone else's. Anyway her argument did not hold water. Then o'reilly asks her how she felt about the incident last year where drag queens dressed as Catholic nuns went into a catholic Mass service and took Holy Communion, in a fashion meant to ridicule the Church, members and worship service. (the perps were NOT catholic nor interested in worship) Well, now she became the lawyer and minced words. She said she felt no concern over this and her 'community did no wrong' besides she has no position to comment on others' things and as long as the Church did not care, nothing was wronged. O'reilly reminded her that the Church and members were offended. He also reminded her that the gay community did not even peep in crticizing these perps. (contrast this to her going on national TV to gripe about gay bashing and how unfair it is and how nobody cares boo hoo) Of course she remained on the fence and made no attempt to excuse or apologize for her clan, the gays. They can dish it out protected by liberal laws and others have to put up and shut up or get sued !!!!. sounds like stalin and hugo chavez to me !!!

Market/Castro SF
Quote:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sisters_of_Perpetual_Indulgence Some people hate their guts because they make fun of Catholic icons and practices Where do you live in the City? The realtor warned me, back in 1990, NOT to buy my place, which was on Corbett Avenue (which runs right into Market & Castro) if gay neighborhoods upset me, but I really liked the view of the Bay, so I bought it anyway Gays everywhere, up there, some of them good neighbors, others total jerks. Same as anyplace. Market/Castro is ground zero for it, you are correct about THAT. I thought that stupid giant gay flag everyday there is lame, but SFW? Who cares? I walked by there every single day for years, without trouble. My biggest problem was whether the 37 Corbett bus was running on time or not. If not, I would just walk up the hill the rest of the way. Lousy place to be trying to find parking for a nice newish 560SEC though. I never bothered shopping in the gay district, except if I went to the Walgreens to drop off film, or buy sunscreen, it was a not far walk from home. Went to Stonestown, West Portal, Cole Valley to buy most stuff. Even walked to most of those places, I was in REAL good shape then. It's VERY true: the Gay, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgenders (the LBGT crew, as they say) have totally politically hijacked the City politics, but it is fairly benign, you ask me. If what you see upsets you, just avoid it or don't watch it. Seeing the Folsom Street Bondage Discipline fair was ok, the first time, after that WGAS about nude gay guys in spiked dog collars getting spanked? I didn't and my wife didn't either... There are some REALLY rough areas, Western Addition, Excelsior, Sunnydale, Tenderloin, Bayview, Potrero Hill, that I only went to when I had to. Still in all, San Francisco is a pretty cool place to live, when the weather is nice, the dog crap is swept up, the homeless aren't panhandling, and MUNI is running on time Maybe I will run into you on the Diesel Drive next month and we can talk a bout it a little bit.

Yup, that is the nun group.
I actually own a place on Clayton st. close to Ashbury & 17th st. at the top of the hill you mention. Upper ashbury area. Personally I also could care less about other peoples habits as long as it does not intrude on me overtly. What is a real problem is the political and legal extortion that these groups (and other so called special down trodden groups) REALLY impose on every day citizens. The threat of law suits for the most minor thing or allegation grounded in the heaps of new special laws designed for the 'protection' of such groups is a REAL everyday imposition. Similar to rent control laws in its litigation empowerment. If you are in a position of liability to the public and have assests, you know what I mean. Even if you are protected by a corp. name category, you still have to deal with a law suit until it is resolved. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ The political clout they carry is more than benign. The legal scaffolding which they enjoy now and in the future will raise its ugly head later as they amasse more power. It slowly undermines the conventional social fabric with reletavistic eroticised-laws. Public schools in CA. can't have books for children that mention the words mother and father, birthdays and other 'normal social paradigms.' Book censorship committees and more. Can you draw, 'AGENDA".? I can look at it from a personal "I could care less" point of view but there is more at stake than my own personal ability to look the other way. Politicians already bend over to them.
