I guess it would be a good driver, but I really like a good original car.

One day I would like to do a 67-68 Mustang Fastback. But I would start with a good solid CA car that was as original as possible. They are only factory correct once, and thats the appeal to me.

But yeah a modern SL550 would smoke one, and you can drive the SL550 every day. Plus you can do nice things like idle in traffic and blast the AC!

I understand completely; my SL AMG will run with any '69 Camaro. I skipped on the BMWs because they just don't seem to age well.

But I agree. My childhood favorites were always AMGs, Ferraris, Porsches, Lamborghini, and the like! Its good fun playing with Mustang GTs, Camaros and Firebirds in the dads SL. Showing them sophistication, refinement, and elegance.

I love how american muscle shift hard, and the driver is thrown around, while I have nice smooth shifts. Ahhh, refinement!
Even though I have 30 years on you Justin, our sentiments are the same. Every kid in my high school wanted a Trans Am or some other piece of crap. I drove a 1965 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. I always thought the European especially German stuff was the best engineered and best built and had the best styling.

Even though the Duster blew away the M3 in a straight line, if it ever came to a real road race the M3 would blow the Duster away, and I don't think they ever made a Duster that could hold a candle to the styling of the M30 body M3. Even now I look back at some of the first of the Japanese luxury cars particularly the Infinti and see how dated their styling looks compared to even VW's designs of the same time and the VW's look more timeless.

I always thought the executives at Chrysler during the 60s and 70s had a contest going on in the design department to build the world's ugliest car. The early Plymouth Belvedere comes to mind and the SuperBee is another one. How ugly can you get?

Old muscle cars and Euro cars, apples and oranges. A Dodge Neon SRT-4 and a BMW M3 might be more comparable.

Yikes, Dodge Neon!

An M3 doesn't really compare to a Duster, the M3 can stop and turn! I'd like to see a Duster race a blown E55, now that would be an interesting race...

You can still buy a modern muscle car:

The Viper, Mustang, GTO, and Vette are all alive and well. Well except the GTO...

Just remember that if it wasn't for American pony cars like the Camaro, we never would have seen the Toyota Celica.

The early Celicas looked like a Mustang that had been left in the spin cycle of a washing machine for too long, someone said
