Furthermore, we need an update on your Ford pickup project. Don't think that we forgot!

Pour a little gas down the carb and she starts right up after sitting for 6 months.

The thing has glass packs so it's really loud. We were driving through a tunnel (I was driving his Jeep Cherokee SRT8 Hemi) and we both opened them up. Rolled down the windows and the sound put would put a gaggle of Harleys to shame.

btw: That Jeep is very fast, sounds just like an old muscle car. Apparently he's taken a few new Audi S4 owners to task. Tons of those cars in Minneapolis.
A friend of mine had a '69 Rebel convertible as a college car. Aqua blue, 232 six, and three on the tree. I could never come up with a reason why someone would order a flashy body style like a convertible with such an old man drivetrain.

I took a long hard look at the Cherokee SRT8; I just wasn't physically comfortable in it.

That's a rare bird, don't think I've run across one.

...I dunno. Unless the V8 and the options that came with it was beyond their budget. Although, go-fast options were so cheap back then.

But I STILL don't trust 'em! For what ya pay for a car anymore, and what repairs cost, I just don't see the point in buying anything with a questionable reputation. I guess I'm just paranoid.

Gads! Wadda memory!
That 'ol beast is a gonner. I had to leave it behind at my brother's place when we moved down here. He finally got tired of it sitting in his yard, so I let him sell it. Sadly, it went to a guy that just wanted it for parts

Maybe glance over this:
http://www.jdpower.com/autos/brand-ratings/

I know.
J.D. Powers sucks. We've been down this path countless times here. And I know I'm gonna be sorry I'm even persueing this issue anymore. So I'll probably give it a rest. But I've been taking notes on this forum alone since I signed on here 5 or 6 years ago, as well as countless other sources, and my decision to NOT buy a newer Benz wasn't a snap decision.
Regardless, the damage is done. I've bought a Lexus, good, bad, or indifferent. If it turns into a bad experience, I'll post it here. If it turns into a "I told you so" experience, I'll post it here.

I seriously doubt that you'll have a bad experience with that GS. Those are really nice cars and the straight six in your 300 is a great motor. The GS400 is a total BEAST and somewhat more difficult to find on the used market.

We all must live and die with the consequences of our choices.

That includes our choice of cars.

I am happy and pleased with mine--and have been for a long time.

So far you are happy and pleased with yours.

The world is thus in balance.

Enjoy!

yeah, thanks.
I will digress for a moment, and say I WOULD buy a new Benz, IF I lived alot nearer a good dealer, and I had a car with a warrenty.
Anyhow, peace

Were your brakes as bad as the ones on my friend's '99 Cirrus? His are very mushy. Even with antilock, new pads and his rear shoes adjusted as tight as possible, they went from horrible to barely tolerable and still feel worse than the 4-wheel drums on my '60 Fintail!

Congrats on the Lexus.

Happy Motoring, Mark
