My edit!

I looked up some production numbers in my little WWII book here;
48,966. Thats the number of Shermans, M4, 76, and 105 produced.
The Russians say(take with a grain of salt) 57,000 T34's produced. Tankograd was pumpin.

The M4A3 you speak of didn't come into combat in any significant numbers until later 1944.
Age is not a factor that I even consider when debating any issue.

My 16 yo son can run circles around people when it comes to discussing WWII aircraft. When he was barely 10 years old I took him to an airshow where he corrected a man who was talking about radial engines used in WWII.

The man was a docent at a warbird museum and was a pilot himself.

So age is not an issue.

Where age makes a difference is not on the issue of knowledge, but on the issue of perspective. Having gone around the track for more than one lap gives me a different, and deeper perspective. It is the long view of things.

He has several. But if he had to pick one it would have to be the Spitfire. He is working, hands-on, on the restoration of one.

G-d bless him.
I have already considered binding my daughter's feet so that they will not grow too large for the pedals Ettore Bugatti designed for his Type 40,although the Vauxhall is very generous in that regard,8 years old and she can already adjust the carbs by ear as I taught her.

I wear a 14 D,trouble enough for almost any old car,let alone modren ones.

Almost forgot to say >>
...which is extremely useful, esp. when it comes to 'dual carbs'.
