I always put witch hazel on the bites that my kids get. It helps, and does not burn when applied.

how does the dry ice thing work?
Dry ice is CO2. Mosquitos are attracted to CO2 (it's an evalution thing - helps them find warm blood to suck). Dry ice in a bucket of H2O produces mosquito attacting CO2 gas. As for why they die in the bucket... I guess they're not real smart. Same principle in the propane powered mosquito traps.

Just keep in mind that you're killing mother Gaia when you do stuff like that and Al Gore may have to leave his mansion and chastise you greatly for your unreasonably large carbon footprint .

Hopefully we can all drink a toast to the comeback of DDT. Then we might be on track again for eradicating several insect bourne diseases that we almost wiped out 40+ years ago before Rachel Carson came along.

MM's

FWIW, I have a Mosquito Magnet and it has made my unlivable after dusk deck to a deck I can sit on 24/7. It also stopped working as others have described. I took it apart (it's not hard to figure out) and found the igniter was loose from the assembly. It sits atop the manifold, isolated by a phenolic washer, and held in with a nylon bolt. Very simple fix folks.

We're going to Alaska soon and have some thermocells with us. Guy at Academy swears by them.

Also plenty of 98% Deet. If ya can't stand the Deet, get out of the ditchen!
