ok what gives I have a Download speed of 740 kb/s and 123 kb/s upload.. while the florida average is like 5584 kb/s download and 566 kb/s upload

what do you guys get

(I used the server in tampa)

come to think of it I think my wireless might be the issue.. damn you wireless damn you 802.11G

What you posted are exactly the same numbers I had with DSL.

Now, with the cable.........

3410kbps down
1130kbps up

First I've always used http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

But the numbers seem to be similiar.

6277 down, 1586 up from speedtest
6038 down, 1583 up from speakeasy

either it's my wireless laptop, or things are busy tonite.

Over the past month I've checked 10 or 15 times, from my wired desktop, and I have been get download speeds more like 15000+ to once or twice > 20k.

Not bad for lowly cable !!!!

Speed Test accesses the Speakeasy Servers for several of it's tests.

odd.. I am on wireless as well.. perhaps its my router..

What I am getting tonight:

What I'm paying for:
8mbps down
768kbps up

What I should actually be getting for the first few megs with Comcast PowerBoostL
16mbps minimum down
2mbps min up

Conclusion:
I'm being ripped off, and Comcast customer support is incompetent.. When I called, they had no idea what SNR or RSS are, it turns our I know more about cable internet systems than the support guy did.. My neighbor has had speedtests up to 30mbps and hes on the same plan I am..

note they are rating it in kilobits not kilobytes per second

Speakeasy 19570/1536
Speedtest 17607/1573

And from either note that my firewall costs me 20+ % down

i know, all isp speeds are usually in bits to make it seem faster

Gee folks lets get upset here.

I moved into this house 20 years ago, I used to download 3 360k floppies for a program I was working on.

Roughly 6 hours EACH. So I would start one each night over 3 days when I went to bed, hoping of course all would work.
You probably download that much each time you connecto to here.

And at the time I had the fast 9600baud modem !!!!!

I know what that feels like... I use 9.6k cell phone dialup regularly.. only for IRC chatting tho, pretty much all its good for anyway..
