Didn't vote for Bush. Not real happy with him. But for all you guys who keep over and over typing that you think all politicians are lying ******* lazy bums---I bet it would be different if you guys were in office (or had the balls to run). That would make everything all right, wouldn't it? So why don't you all run for office and make the world a better place? Get out and meet your elected officials instead of learning everything from the paper and blogs--hell, you may even get to eventually voice your opinions where it will actually matter

I actually made almost exactly that same comment here a couple years ago, now that I think about it. Got interesting responses if I remember right. let's see where this goes this time.
As for me, no. Uh-uh. No way. I don't make a good lead at the job. IMHO, anyone that actually WANTS a political position, they deserve it. I'm a better armchair whiner.

I don't have to run. Ron Paul is running for me. I can't tell you how surreal it is to hear this guy make the same arguments using the exact same language I've been making for years -- about almost everything. And yes, I honestly do believe that Dr. Paul could fix a lot of the problems with this country, if he could manage to garner any cooperation.

And no, they aren't all 'lying ******* lazy bums', but enough of them are to make the good ones less relevant than they should be. Case in point Congressman Jeff Flake. Don't you think that a Congress chocked full of decent men and women would climb aboard the Flake train and eliminate earmarks?

Ron Paul is unelectable. He will be ignored by the mass media. He speaks truth--as he really sees it--if you disagree, thats OK. He is one non political politician.

I may be in fantasyland, but I think he does stand a chance, albeit a very small one. For Dr. Paul, it all comes down to the power of the Internet, where he is an absolute front-runner and a force to be reckoned with. What does the huge discrepancy in Paul's numbers on the Internet vs. the real world say about the Internet? What does it say about American voters? Can the Internet propel a candidate all the way to the WH? How far can it take him? We may find out.......

The man's message seems to resonate with an awful lot of folks with wildly diverse political stances. If Ron Paul cannot even make a dent, that seems as clear a sign as any that our political system may be broken beyond its ability to repair itself.

Yeah, that is kind of what I am saying. I don't think you are one of the "they are all liars" crowd, but I think it is funny to hear so many political experts here dismiss all politicians as corrupt, yet they have never met their own congressmen or senators.

I personally don't actually believe that ALL politicians are corrupt. I think it's more of a corrupt system. Dunno. I'm anything but a political expert. Quite the opposite. But it don't take a genius to see that there's too many prob's and corruption.
Now, back to the dictatorship..........

Yea,
Notice they don't trust Social Security have their own Lavish Pension.
National Health care, wanna place bets they exclude themselves.

Corporate execs violate something - Polititians Scream and Yell
Polititians violate something - Oh sorry I'll just return the extra $.

Oh scream and yell about gas gouging right.
Who makes the most on a gallon of gas -- Goverment.
And their sly way of taxing, not per gallon but per $.

Read about the corruption here in Chicago, how about candidates running that were convicted and spent time in jail for accepting bribes while they were previously in office.

And for those wanting a dictatorship, come here to Chicago.

I won't go into details,
'Cook County' commisioner (20+ years) has stroke, his son is now commisioner.
read about the pension deal the interim Commisioner got. Personally they bought her out (Pension tripled if she retired versus ran against sonny).

Rosemont, dad long time and only mayor dies, next day his son is mayor.

There were SEVERAL other too.

Okay maybe not a dictatorship, these are monarchies.
I now refer to is as the "Kingdom of Cook"

Good Point.

I actually had "some" respect for Daley. Then he trashed Meigs in the middle of the night.

Since then it's been one issue (corruption ...) after another.

Further comments on lawmakers.

They are justifying the expansion at O'Hare based on projections out 20 and 30 years. These guys can't predict next year with a greater than 50/50 accuracy, so how do they expect us to believe these.
Note the millenium parking garage was guaranted to be self funding, the city has kicked in millions (hundreds) to help cover the payments.

Now Chicago is going for the 2016 Olympics. Poli's are GUARANTEEING NO TAXPAYER MONEY. (No olympic has ever broken even in the past). Let them put their money where their mouth is. They Guarantee it THEY Gaurantee it. Their entire networth gets wiped before taxpayers get hit.

Kingdom of Cook, Stroger promised in his election stuff NOT to raise taxes, already talking about it, election was in Feb(??).
My proposal --- Any lawmaker the votes for a tax increase will pay double that tax while in office or maybe 10 years minimum.
Make sure they feel the pain too.

And just as they are proposing that shareholders get a say in executive pay packages at corporations, how about Voters get a say in the polititians pay packages !!!!!!

Although one piece of Good News, former Gov Thompson has been stripped of his almost 200k yrly pension due to his conviction on corruption charges.
