Anything concerning the loaning of money.........or the sharing of money..........will run a serious risk of terminating the friendship.

Hunting, Fishing and Morel Mushrooms are the main culprits for ending my friendships. I have had a couple squabbles with friends over money but only one left with a lasting feud.

Prized Steelhead spots on a river, you take your friend with the oath that he will never return or bring anyone to it and you find him on the bank with three buddies on opening morning, if you fish the Manistee opening morning you will always catch a fight or two. There is one other involving walleye but its too long and boring to get into.

Money issues are rare because specific agreements are made prior to the transaction and adhered to I guess it works here because of the small town mentality. Money is replaceable but you can't replant a Morel.

I do agree that ending a long term relationship over fishing is stupid and immature but it's the PRINCIPLE! the wives hold their heads in shame when it is discussed.

........yeah, that would do it.

........fishing had nothing to do with it.........it's the betrayal of a trust.......

Been there, done that. Let a "friend" buy a car from me on the easy-sleezy payment plan. Ended up having to call him EVERY month for a payment. "Oh, yeah. I'll bring it over soon as I can."
After he finally got it paid off, we never saw, or spoke to, each other again.
Never do that again.

I get screwed everytime I loan money to women. Seems they manage to forget about the loan.........or have better places for the money after they finally have some.........

I think you must consider it a gift..........

I ONLY do this kind of thing for my own family anymore. And then only when I figure I can afford to never see it again.

I won't loan money to friends, it will just get messy. If they really need it and I can spare it I would give it to them as a gift, but not expect to get paid back.

Dishonesty, and trust I would say end most friendships.

Sometimes a money "loan" is a good way to get rid of someone.

I solved that issue before it became a problem by always dating women that were wealthier than I
