On the other hand, the economic success of an individual should not be the measure of whether the country as a whole is on the right track politically and socially for the next 50 years. There are plenty of people in this country who have the very narrow minded view of the fact that they have a huge $hitbox and a giant place to $hit and, therefore, everything and everybody else can just go pound sand. Things are wonderful.

The trivialization of American politics into sex jokes, gossip and cults of personality hides something a lot more sinister. That's entirely by design. If you are a conservative or if you identify yourself as a Republican, you need to open your eyes at what has happened to the federal budget, the national debt and your civil liberties, as well as to the nation's foreign policy, and start asking some questions.

So -- are you going to talk about John Edward's haircut, or whether Hillary Clinton uses Botox injections, or make Monica Lewinsky jokes ... or are you going to get angry about our failing effort in Iraq and Afghanistan, the out-of-control federal budget deficit? Or, if you want to go long term, the fact that we have mortgaged our economic health and vitality to the People's Republic of China? These are not a liberal-vs-conservative, red-state-versus-blue-state issues. They are huge problems that we are NOT facing, and have no plan for facing.
