It's an A, but not a perfect one. I just got my grades for my grad studies and of the two classes, I got an A and an A-. this brings my total and final GPA to an A, but not a perfect A. So that's what's gonna be on my final record. I've been really picky about my grades since entering a grad program. Undergrad was a whole different story. Dismal grades. So I see making the grade in grad school as a sort of trying to redeem myself. This is actually my third A-. Is this something to cry about? An A- in grad school is close to a B+, the minimum passing grade.

None of my grad classes had qualifiers on the grades.

Under normal circumstances it means you took a class that challenged you.

What are your plans after grad school? Do you need a certain GPA for a certain goal?

Once you're out working, depending where you go and what you do, those grades fade into the rear view mirror real quick...

So unless you've got specific GPA post-doc plans, don't sweat it. Grab a pint and congratulate yourself on an A-ish grade.

If you are going for your phd in astro physics it may be an issue, but in law school we had a saying: The A students become law school professors and Judges. The B students end up working for the C students.

I found Canadian grades much harder to earn than US grades. An A in the US started at 90 whereas an A in Canada started at 80.

Take it from someone who is in the university system, grades don't matter except for your own satisfaction, its the practical on the job training that will matter to you the most for your future.
