How were fireworks in your area?
My wife and I drove to DC and watched the national fireworks from the VA side of the Potomac river.
I've got to say that I was blown away with this year's fireworks! There must be new technology or something. This year we enjoyed seeing hearts with arrows through them, balls with rings around them (like Saturn and its rings), and fireworks that would explode and seem to disappear, only to reappear when each little end would re-explode into its own minuture display. What a show!! We were across the Kennedy Center looking at at the fireworks shoot up into the sky with the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument as a perfect backdrop. They also created a great reflection in the river with many boats and kayaks floating around. How were fireworks in your neck of the woods?

Hartford's aren't until Saturday (I say "ours" but "we" don't do one so Hartford is the closest). They usually do a good job with Riverfest. The Mohegan Sun Casino puts on the show and the Indians aren't cheap when it comes to promotion!
They launch them off a barge in the CT River and a bunch of boats from our marina go up early in the morning and set anchor right outside the safety zone and drink all day (fortunately they do spend the night). I'll probably head up around 6:30 or so and raft up with them since I don't want to spend the majority of the day on a 21' boat with the Mrs. and 4 kids fighting with each other. An hour or two is tolerable.

A lot of communities down here cancelled due to the impending rain forecasts, so you had to travel around to find out where any were taking place.
Too bad...except for a one-hour deluge around 1PM, it was mostly sunny and mild and rainless through the evening. Where we DID see fireworks...nothing cutting-edge, same as usual. Still, fireworks instill awe, even to the latest generation of kids (and adults) that have grown accustomed to the "gee-whiz" technical world we now live in...

I usually refer to it as "celebratory gunfire" because that's often what it actually comes from. (not kidding either...)
Louder and more prevalent this year. Ken300D

Boston does a helluva show! We went a couple of years ago with some friends and stayed in a hotel right on the Charles River. That would be the place to go via boat to watch them! The city is a freaking zoo by about mid-day because they start closing down streets, bridges and certain subway stops. Which we learned the hard way with a couple kids in tow and a stoller.

I almost got blown up on the beach. Tons of m80s+ and a bunch of illegal fireworks brought in across the border. It was actually a really fun time, I watched people morter eachother, watched some people sneak m80s behind groups and we burned a huge doghouse.
I hate all the shows around me because I am spoiled by a radio station's show that occurs each May. Nothing can come close to a comparisson.

I was in Manassas and it was very good. Nice fireworks displays, small home town feel.

In Philadelphia, the weather was rainy so they told everyone they cancelled the show. Then after most people went home, they did the show anyway. It was alright, but I saw other shows on tv that were amazing.

I lived in Manassas for a while and graduated from Seton High School near the older part of town. Manassas does have a great small town feel to it-- as long as you stay away from the mall and all those car dealerships on Sudley Ave.

I grew up in a small Southern town where there was absolutely NOTHING to do. I like the big city. You can have your steenkin' small town feel!
