Love at first sight ?

The first time that you saw your current ride, did you automatically fall "in love" with it?

Was it a case of love at first sight?

Or did you have to cautiously check her out before making the big decision?

With the 280SE, it was near love at first sight. With the 300D it was really like at first sight. With the 420SEL, it was like at first sight, and the E420 was something I lusted after, so when I saw it, I was already partially in love.

With the 300E, the chance to own it came up suddenly and I was driving it for the first time after the decision was made. It grew on me quickly. Came to love it more for function than looks though it is no slouch in that department.

Yep. I need a cabrio and a 500E to round out my W124 collection.

Just like with a woman, I check it out throughly. Unlike a woman, I can get rid of the car if it becomes too much of a problem with less financial responsibilities

Thats a problem.....

Love at first sight happened with just about all of the cars we have....

Bought them, and then found out about all the quirks and such.

But they are fun. I like my current collection.

Every vehicle, boat, bike, etc I've ever bought, the decision was made at first glance.

Goes for my wife too. The second I met her, I knew. Took two months to tie the know. I was planning on being single and playing forever.

I bought my first Benz to experiment with Bio Diesel. That would be my 85 300D. I liked it so much I spent a year and a half restoring it and now have 7 MBs of various years and types. 2 are parts cars. My 116 parts car I have been thinking of making into a rag top.

I saw it on autotrader.. went and looked at it and drove home the same day.. very slowly due to a mis adjusted alda.

I fell in love with the W126's after I drove a friend of mines.. I'd kill for a black on black 300SDL or 560SEC... drool drool

I knew the first time driving my 300SD that it was the *perfect* first Mercedes for me. A bit grimy, and she had three chrome Bundts and 1 silver one (with a whitewall) but the recipient of newly rebuilt front calipers, a turn signal switch, and all fluids changed the week before my purchase? "You're coming with ME!" And after a night of detailing and a set of 15" 420SEL rims, the next day, the former owner's wife didn't *recognize* the car. Astral silver over black leather- timeless! I searched for that combo for months, and this was still the cheapest decent 300SD out there at the time!

I "bonded" with the 126 on a 600 mile round trip across the Mojave to the Coachella Music Festival three days after I bought it. Ran perfectly there and back. I've been back to Coachella this year in it also, and to Vegas a few times. Fantastic ride...

I didn't know much about M-100's before I bought my 1st MB. I love the silver black color combination. It's previous owner also has some celeb value so that made it much more appealing to boot.

Bought her as a beater...fell in love after the first drive, unfortunately, she still suffered the life of a beater, hopefully to be restored some day.

it was love at first sight

In 1990 I rode along with my father to visit a Lexus dealer, while he was negotiating a deal I walked across the street to check out a MB dealership. While strolling through the used car lot I came across my '86 300E. It was by itself at the back of the lot, thick layer of dust and a dead battery. A salesman stated "nobody wants that car, it has a manual transmission". They asked me to come back in a couple days, they detailed it, new battery installed, offered a warranty, and I bought it that day at a good price. The salesman was more than happy to be rid of it. I have no plans to part with it.
