I remember that at nineteen y/o.
Mine had four roots instead of two, all four of them did.
They had to send me to a real big guy to get them suckers out.

I was in pretty good pain for about three good days until it started feeling better.

My daughters boyfreind is nineteen and his are killing him right now, he also has an infection he has to get cleared up before they can pull his.
I feel bad for him because he is in pretty bad pain.

Ouch.

Just don't try to drink any liquor to dull the pain. It actually gets worse due to swelling.

What I remembered about my wisdom teeth (All 4, shoving inward, towards the front) being yanked when I was 32, was this:

#1.) Dull, numbing pain...offset by Tylenol III. - Big @55 pills, followed with a bit of water...

#2.) ANY FOOD that could be sucked (VERY LIGHTLY) through a straw and swallowed without having the stuff "flush" the inside of the mouth...didn't want any more "bacteria/petri dish" substances in the vacinity of the open wounds...

#3.) Did I mention the pain? Doubled the dosage of the Tylenol III. - Big @55 pills, followed with a bit of fire-water...

#4.) Cotton in the mouth - on the wounds...felt like Marlon Brando in the "Godfather" - and my mouth felt as big as Marlon Brando too...

#5.) Oh, in case I forgot to mention it...PAIN - FREAKING, IRITATING PAIN - "I WANT TO RIP MY JAW OFF AND GIVE IT TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!" PAIN...THAT DAMN TYLENOL III. COULDN'T ALLEVIATE THAT PAIN IF IT WAS SHOT FROM A GUN AND INTO MY MOUTH!!! "WILD TURKEY" WAS THE ALTERNATIVE...NO CHASERS, JUST "WT" - ONE SHOT EVERY FOUR PULSES OF PAIN... ( Self-medicating, for pain, is still the best way to handle that type of crap... )

#6.) I'm typing this...apparently, it worked. ( However, my liver may have something to say to me later! )

My wife (27) just had all four of hers pulled. All of them pointing forward, 3 "worst case bony extractions", all of the with hooked roots (turned 180 degrees and growing back up towards the surface).

Surgeon had to cut two of 'em in half to get the buggers out.

She took half a vicodin the night of surgery, just in case. Then two regular strength ibuprofen every 4-6 hours for a a day and a half. That was it. She did have one heck of a tough time getting her mouth open all the way for a good four days.

She went in pretty scared. Turns out she's just the toughest damn hunnert pounder I've ever known

Oh - and skip the straw. Surgeon said it's the best possible way to get dry socket (vacuum pulls the clots out). Egg drop soup, tofu, pumpkin curry, yogurt. First food she ate was macaroni and cheese, with the little shell noodles that she could swallow without chewing - that was her night of surgery dinner. Took forever to eat, but she enjoyed two bowls full cuz she was starving!

Wow, that's scary.

After 43 years I still have all 4 of mine and I have no plans to have them taken out.
Honestly I don't know why some people get them pulled. I know for some people it's necessary but some people do it just cause the dentist says it's necessary. A friend of mine had her son's wisdom teeth pulled out and there was nothing wrong with them.
A dentist wanted to pull mine but I didn't really trust him so I went to another dentist and he said no way. They are healthy teeth so he wouldn't do it.

I had all four of mine yanked, then went to work and worked for 6 hours. It was my second worst day at that job, the day after new years was the worst.


Its not bad just bite down on some guaze and try to ignore it.

If I had to do it again, I'd drink a bottle of vodka on the way to getting them pulled.

I had all of mine pulled at one time many years ago. I found that jumping on a pogo stick while listening to rock and roll at full volume was just the ticket for me. Hope that helps!

If you're not careful, the pain will floor you. I've had three removed so far, and when I had them done, I thought I was "the man" because I could tolerate the pain. Well, when the drugs wore off, I could've taken a bowie to my gut and still not have noticed the gouge.

The pain can be enough to make you wish for death sometimes, if they really butcher the inside of your mouth.

Bite the gauze, take it EASY. Use them pills! They're your best friends. Follow the advice of the fellas on this board. They know what they're talking about.

I still have all four of mine but that may have to do with the fact that 11 of my permanant teeth never came in!!! The four years of braces to correct that sure was fun! Maybe try to drink protein shakes and use a turkey baster to squirt it into the back of your mouth. I know, kinda weird but it just may work.

Hmmmm.......I only had one pulled. My dentist refused to pull the others as they are healthy. I went back to work right after the surgery for my wisdom tooth extraction. My boss thought I was nuts, then again I have high tolerant with pain. I fell asleep one time when having a root canal.
