value of 1912 pool table

I have this old pool table, weighs a young ton, came out of an old bar in a small town north of here. It is not pristine by any means but is in good servicable condition. The various parts have been replaced through the years with original style things. It has decent felt, the leather mesh pockets are all in decent shape and the wood is decent too.

I have looked on the internet and all the pool table dealers are very circumpsect about pricing.

I bought it about 18 years ago when the little pool hall bar restaurant laundormat closed in one of the little towns north of here. A fellow is interested in buying it and I have no idea what it is worth.

I think I paid two or twenty five hundred for it.

I suspect it is a brunswick but it lacks a label. It has a plate on the end listing all the patents up til 1912 though.

Blatt's in New York seem to be a premier source for antique pool tables. They could probably give you some information about the value of yours, Tom.

If it can double as a dining room table, then it's priceless....

Didn't know pool tables had any value...outside of what the dealer charges.

From my experience, homeowners in the process of selling their property would rather leave their pool table behind rather that deal with moving it out of the house.

It is different with an antique. The billiard table at the Cosmos Club in DC is insured for $100K.

The only reason I know that figure is because when I was about 14 I was there and sneaking drinks and when the waiters would come into the billiard room, I would just set my drink down on the table until he left. After a couple of times doing this, the club manager came in and wore me out about the history and cost of the table (he seemed ok with the underage drinking part though).

I would have thought that you might have alluded to a different use.

Check this gallery out....maybe one similar to yours is there. No prices, but they do have a phone number.

Thanks, Larry. Mine looks a lot like the newport and the wellington. They look so good I am having second thoughts about selling mine. I think maybe I will refinish it instead!
