I've got an old iMac in my garage and want to turn it into a tank for a fish or beta... ya know...

I want to use the front glass as part of the tank I need to make but.. its attached to the CRT tube and those are dangerous to mess with..

so how do I seperate them without killing myself

I've seen it done with the original and Mac Classic, but not with the iMac. Apparently it's popular.

I am afraid of the monitor... I am trying to figure out how to discharge it so I can safely work with it and dispose of it

More trouble than it's worth,, and boy,,,, try convincing an insurance claims adjuster why they should pay for damages caused by an aquarium that you made out of an old imac.

Get yourself a Nanocube. Good for Fresh or salt,,, planted or coral lighting,,, totally self contained,, relatively cheap,, look cool. I've used the 6g, 12g and 24 gallon cubes and for the most part, they've been pretty good.

... you're telling me.. to not be crafty...

I'm just going to safely remove the CRT and put it in a padded box and duct tape it closed and put it with the hazardous waste at the city dump... or take it to a TV repair shop for disposal


I already have a 10 gallon tank which is thriving..with my current fish...

I just want some neato geek decor for my room..

Were I in your position Sport,I would conserve my physical and financial resources for those older redheads rather than........fish.

Besides,if you get lucky the room will smell like fish anyways,depending upon your oral and aural skills
