Back to the Future?

These antiques again? With the coke spoon for a hood ornament? Back to the future.......indeed.

135 hp on them? Couldn't out run a rickshaw.

Where did I put my 8 track tape player?

ah, there it is.....lights cigarette.......takes long drag.....slow exhale.....

inserts "Cheap Trick Live at Budokan " tape in. There we go, it's 1981 again

I always loved the look of the Delorean, but it was actually a hodge podge of compnents from other production cars and trucks as I understand it. The SS body made it too heavy and the engine was under-powered.

Still, they did look pretty sweet!

Questions for the new DMC dealer:

Will they come with an optional Flux Capacitor?

I want mine with a Mr Fusion on it

Does it fly?

Can it go faster than 88?

I wish them good luck. I always liked the look of the car and the fact that is was built from stainless steel -- if only my W126 was stainless...

However I think that they used to catch fire due to the shoehorning of the GM V6 into the car. I also wonder if these cars can pass today's safety standards. I know that was a real problem with the new Avanti sportscar.

Now THAT is a car I would love to have even if it is a Mustang under the skin.

There is a company that installs Cadillac Northstar V8's into Deloreans. Going from 135 to 300 HP should perk the ol' girl up.

If they had a tight fit with a V6 before, how would they cram a V8 into it?

The stainless body and fiberglass pan -- they had the right idea, they just used too much junk components... and he had to be on coke when he picked the engine.

Contrary to universally accepted belief they were NOT stainless steel bodies.

The body shell was actually fibreglass with a thin stainless veneer. This accounts for the misalignment common among the doors and hoods of high mileage and/or hard driven examples.

The engine is quite large for a V6, with a V8-like 90-degree angle between the cylinder banks instead of the more common 60-degree angle.
