Yeah where was that whole "mad cow" thing a couple of years back? I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure that BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) appeared in England first and then was found in Canadian cattle. There have been a couple of cases in the US but, if IIRC, it was confined to a few older cattle that had been imported from Canada. The animals and their herds were quarantined and the afflicted animals destroyed.

Additionally, the USDA now prohibits use of any spinal material in ground beef (BSE is a nervous system disease).

I was amazed when that ocurred at how meat could be traced back to the farm where the animal was raised. I'm always amazed to see how other industries operate, but I figured something like beef or beets, corn lamb, etc. left a paper trail like that.

In February 1974, 6 mule deer (2 males — #3062, #3063; and 4 females — #3064, #3065, #3066, #3067) were purchased from the Denver Zoo and placed under quarantine in outdoor pens at the AHC. Five of the mule deer, 2 males and 3 females, aged 7-month-old either were born at the Denver Zoo, or had been shipped to Denver Zoo from the wildlife research facility in Fort Collins
Local lore expands on this.

Fat in grass fed beef is yellow as compared to the fat in factory raised cattle which appears white. Unfortunately most grass fed beef also is fattened in feedlots before slaughter. If you have seen a feedlot you would probably as soon eat stuff that grows in a toilet as soon as eat feedlot meat.

Isn't memory failure one of the first signs of, . . . of, . . . wait. What were we talking about?

So do I.

BTW, I saw a sign in Zimbrick European that advertised that the cure for Breast Cancer is in your hands. Well, off I go to do my part. Early detection is best, right?

There's likely to be a fist fight then. Dubya is under the impression the HE is the decider.
