Either way, even my Benz will toast it.
What are you smoking? A 355 (any 355) will MURDER your 560SEC AMG in every aspect of performance,, 0-60, 0-100, 0-180, 40-120, skid-pan, handling, braking.

Also,, no such car as a 308 GTO.

Who is this guy??

But a Kremer Porsche 930 or a HKS Supra Turbo with 500bhp on tap will murder all.

I'll have to second your comments, and I saw one last week, it was having a major service done, to the tune of ten thousand dollars. The fellow told me it's light years ahead of a 308, and a 308 isn't slow.

Back to the purpose of this thread,,,,,

After looking at Jags closely (and reading everything I could) for the past 6 months or so, I'd echo what others here said that the 1992+ 6 cylinder Jags have a reputation for reliability, compared to the older models at least.

Any Jag V12 is probably a crap-shoot,,,, some say they should be driven hard and often,,, some say they can't take a good thrashing,,, I'd lean towards the former. The XJS V12 was a direct evolution of the XKE V12 and was the platform on which the Aston Martin DB7 was based some 20 years later,,, you gotta admit,, that's kinda cool.

IMO the XJS V12's are somewhat underratted and under-valued right now,, but then again, I distinctly remember telling my wife: "A film with Leonardo DiCaprio about the Titanic? That'll totally bomb,, what kind of moron would go and see a movie like that!?"

I think the XJS Coupe is one of the best looking GT's ever built,,, especially the pre-facelift hardtops with the quad-headlights. You might also want to consider a 1996-97 XJR with the V6 Supercharged engine,,, tons of room and a real sleeper for the price.

I know someone who uses a '92 six cylinder as a daily driver, except for the infamous steering rack leak(s), it's been very reliable.

He joked to me once that all the oil leaks are great rust protection.

I think you'd better research Ferrari a little better Juck. The 308 GTB, and GTO were the exact same car on the outside, but drivetrain wise, the GTO was a whole lot more aggressive of a car. They were of sort of limited production, and a lot of GTB owners bought the body kit, to add to their GTB, to make it look like GTO. Sheetmetal wise, they were the same car, just some skirts and add ons the GTO had, and it was a lot faster than the GTB, which was everywhere, and you could pick one up these days for about 20k if you'd like. Kinda like the Porsche 944, all show, no go. My stock 89 RS Camaro w/305, was actually faster than my buddie's Ferrari GTB, and my own 944 Porsche (Non-Turbo porsche,of course.)

Unlike the 308, the engine was mounted longitudinally, using the 308's rear boot space. The wheelbase was 110 mm (4.3 in) longer at 2450 mm (96.5 in), and the track was widened also.

What a load of shash. Do you have some kind of learning disability? Let me space the words out a bit,, tackle them one at a time, then take a break if it helps:

There
is
no
such
thing
as
a
308
GTO.

Far be it from me to 2nd-guess the horrifying collage of mental vomit between your ears,,, but you may be thinking of the 288 GTO.

John's Cars in Dallas

This guy has been putting Chevy V8 engines in Jaguars for years and years.

He has advertised in Hemmings Motor News ever since I can remember.
There was always a very chatty newsletter with every ad about what was going on in Dallas at the time

Just be grateful that I don't trot my '73 Vega GT out and smoke all your armchair-racer asses.
