I'd think you'd have better results with a dilute mixture of bleach rather than the vinegar. |

I would be reluctant to use anything other than water in a pressure washer...low pressure.
Vinigar might be ok.... Bleach too if diluted enough, I suppose... Tom W

If you post a picture of where you need to get on your roof I might be able to offer some advice. National Ladder and scaffold sells roof hooks. You mount the aparatus onto the ladder. Basically it turns an extension ladder into a nice little scaffold. I use them all the time when I am painting homes. They make the job safer and easier. The hook has a roller on the backside, you roll the ladder on this wheel up to the peak of the roof upon reaching the peak of the roof you flip the ladder and you are good to go.

I think you might have a greater chance of damaging the roof by walking on it than from the mold.

Mold, or moss?
Moss was a constant problem when I lived in W. Washington. (It rains there a bit). Bleach will kill it. There's moss killer that lasts a little longer than bleach. Best bet is zinc strips. http://bryophytes.science.oregonstate.edu/page24.htm

As mentioned, however, do you have "mold" or "moss"...........two different problems......... |

I think both, its very acute I can spot the moss using binoculars but notice the mold discoloration on my northern exposure. I want to nail it before I have to start stripping shingles. I think I am going to double whammy with Vinegar and sprayer, the light bleach, dish soap concoction and do a final zap with the zinc. All of the materials are $10.00 combined so I can afford to experiment a little.

Had a little house under a big swamp maple, light green mold, distinct from moss, not only the roof shingles but the crappy vinyl siding as well.
We use Tri sodium phosphate,{available in powder form in Home Despot and other venues}mixed with equal amouts of bleach. TSP comes in crystal or powder form so you mix it to a very strong solution with water, add the bleach and pour it into the tank of a good pressure washer {or wide pattern sprayer}set down for say,60-80 psi. Did the trick for me. Of course I had to rinse the residuum off with clean water several hours afterwards. |

Bleach and water seem to kill it. I use special mold cleaners they sell at say West Marine to remove the stains, they seem to work well.
Why is their mold? Cut down the trees!
