I am not disputing the fact that they are trying to alter their appearance. Perhaps a better analogy is a push up / padded bra verses a boob job. The issue for me is surgical verses 'cosmetic'.

Hell, with all the stuff I had (she didn't know about the 44 mag) she even thought I had done it a few times before.

Guess it all came back from my boy scout training. Be prepared.
Yep, I lost mine at 16 too......it was very frightneing.....it was dark.....

and I was all alone!

I think the basic concept is appearance changing. The issue is surgical vs non-surgical. Apparently, you draw the line at the point where it leaves the non-surgical area into the surgical area whereas, I don't have a line in that realm. To me, it is basically different methods of trying to do the same thing. Looking better than a person does.

LA, Hollywood, ground zero for this.

It is a really big deal down in the Beverly Hills and West side of Los Angeles, I noticed, when I was down in Los Angeles last month..

A lot of females down there are obessed with their looks or something and that area is more than happy to relieve them of their money, and presumably, their insecurity.

Total airheads, Stepford wives, and bored, insecure types are said to abound.

So, all these "cosmetic surgeons" down there really have a limitless goldmine going on. HUGE bucks for them.

Typical.

I take issue with women all trying to make themselves look the same... big lips, big boobs, big chin, big cheekbones, like they are all trying to be Barbie dolls...just a cookie cutter mold. It really is sad.

You think this is confined to LA?

I noticed a proliferation of plastic surgery clinics cropping up in the more toney communities of Dallas-Fort Worth...lots of rich, bored housewives doing all sorts of alterations, with breast augmentation being the most-oft surgery performed...although I piggybacked on a FedEx route one day and noted the number of Botox deliveries being dispensed in the same areas!

Personally, I can't understand the hoopla over such procedures, as the end results appear fake, and usually elicit low-murmured scowls from other women...jealously? Perhaps, but I doubt it.

I do have concerns about young women requesting such procedures, especially when their bodies haven't finished developing yet. I find it sad that the self-esteem issue can be rooted so deeply at such an early age.

I used to think that women did this to attract men until someone recently informed me that women do it because of women, to outdo them, I guess. Men, of course, would do this like everything else to attract women. . . .

Rectifying disfiguration from and accident or a birth defect, I’m all for it.

Altering your looks because you have serious self esteem issues and can’t be happy with who you are, or you’re simply being controlled by what some jackass of society says is “how to better to fit in”. What a crock.

The new frontier . . . do a Google search for "labiaplasty."

Now there's an application that the inventors of medical laser technology weren't expecting.

If you are eating something, you want it to look good, smell good, etc, etc. Just like food in a restaurant.
