New Years Resolution...

Well, anyone thought about it yet...?

Anyone even believe in it at all..?

I have recently thought about it. I don't know why, because it isn't something I've ever cared about before. All of a sudden it's become a bit of an interest to me.

Just curious, who's doing, or commiting to what ?

Not only am I curious, but I need some ideas...I'm not ready to quit smoking cigarettes, or anything like that...Should it be car related, work related, or a personal life sort of thing..?

So go ahead, and post your "New Years Resolution" here.

The Truckmeister

Seems like it's starting early this/next year. I can tell the gym is busier than usual. All kinds of round-bellied people walking around there, lately.

I don't think I ever came up with anything like a "New Year's Resolution". I keep it that way.

But the first couple of months will be tough at the gym ... working around all those part-timers ...

The one I made last year was to cut myself free from the political scene. No more political web forums, grass roots efforts, websites, radio shows and avoid political discussions on non-political sites. I was just getting wound too tight and pissed off while my employees went blissfully through the day, completely oblivious to the world's affairs. I almost made it. But it was relieving enough for me to give it another shot and hopefully follow through with it this time around.

I still catch the news via the web, paper and local news so I'm not ignorant of what's going on. However I put that energy towards my family and our business instead.

Any other resolution (eat less, drink less, exercise more, spend less time on MShop forum, etc.) would be broken within a few months so I generally find them pointless.

I might as well make a resolution to give up coffee too while I'm setting completely unattainable goals!

I'm not much into new year's resolutions, but for some inexplicable reason at a party last New Year's Eve, I decided to quit drinking. I was appropriately inebriated for such an event, so, ironically, that may have impaired my judgement.

My wife made no such foolish promises to herself so we still have beer, wine and liquor in the house and we still attend lots of functions with lots of alcohol. I just drink diet pepsi and try to stay amused. It's been a fascinating social experiment for me.

It's interesting...it was easier to keep in the beginning. Summer was tougher because we live on a large lake and typically drink a LOT of beer on the water. Football season was tougher. Tailgating is pretty boring without brewski's. The closer I get to achieving this goal, the tougher it's getting. I find myself doing mental calculations on the number of days left. 11 days to go right now.

So are you going to get blotto on Jan. 1st to celebrate making it a year?

Hats off to you for sticking with it for that long! You made it longer than I did.

Probably. I'm already planning the beers I'll savor first:

Harpoon IPA
Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat
Rogue Dead Guy Ale
Highland Oatmeal Porter

truckinik,

Last year, I had planned on spending more time working during the year.

AS it happened, I only actually worked 6-days or so in my longtime profession, that I really enjoy. --I guess that's one casualty of doing what you do so well for 30+ years, that you no longer have to rely on it's income to sustain your standard of living.

This year I've got the same resolution planned, to work more, with one added resolution.
That is, lift less weights in mass in the weightroom. Just don't need to keep risking injuries that seem to come with it.

I could stand to lose about 14 lbs. of body weight, too.
