Yeah I have no love for the engines in the first gen W126's, but for $500 if it runs I don't care what timing chain it has. Run it for 4-5 months, strip all the parts and call the junker!

Well, I went to look at it. Visual inspection only as I came from work and didn't have any tools. Body is solid including jacking points. A few scrapes and small dents but overall good condition. A few very small rust spots. The car has been repainted at some point. The interior is dirty but all there except for the power mirror control. The passenger seat looks a little worse than the driver's. No major rips or tears anywhere in the interior. Car is black on black BTW.
The tires are all dryrotted. Decent chrome on the bumpers (US spec BTW)
Opened the hood and the only thing that concerned me was no liquid in the radiator tank. I did not try to turn it over. I will go back again.
According to the records it came from Wisconsin and was dealer serviced to 60,000 miles. Odometer currently shows 118,000.

All in all, well worth the $400 in parts alone. The body is nice enough that I will try to get it running again. I would feel ashamed of myself to hack this one up to part out.

Sounds like a good winter car. Bet you can drive it for 4-5 months for damn near free.

I am not worried about driving it. Between my wife and I we have 5 cars now.
