Went to court this morning in an attempt to get a protection order. Was told by the clerk of the court that I could not get one since he did not make a threat of serious bodily harm.

They system really sucks, OTOH, it wants that guttersnipe to attack you but then if your defend yourself and your family by blowing that crud's brains off, they persecute you for that. Go figure, dammed if you do, damned if you don't.

He was off the street for 8 days which was the remainder of his 10 day sentence for 'Flourishing a weapon' for which he had been serving probation. I tried to talk the DA into keeping the probation (8 months to go) but requiring a GPS monitor since I thought that would be a better alternative. But it was a no go. So now he's back on the street again.

Scumbag is back in the neighborhood. I checked the court records tonight. He was arrested for disturbing the peace less than a block from the elementary school a month ago. I day in jail, given credit for prior jail time.

my condolences.

dealing with the same thing around here, with a guy - who i know, from when before he began his long, alcoholic decline - who approached and hugged one of my tenants who was scared witless. she called the police, i gave them his name and a description. nothing. three weeks later, he tries to do the same thing again. end result, tenant moves out the next day. he spends the weekend in jail, d.a. drops charges. so, one scared young lady who's couch surfing and out one month's rent and one nutcase still on the loose. oh, and, of lesser import, i have to paint and rent an apt. and the owners of the bldg aren't happy. well, at least no one hurt, and none of my loved ones is in danger.

I hope that this sort of thing does not have any sort of adverse effect on your daughter. Unfortunately the attempt can often be as damaging.

This animal is probably now just attempting to make enough of a nuisance of him self to get a reaction so he can cry foul play.

Its a pity you have such a well run prison there. We are always hearing about creatures like that being dealt with appropriately while on the inside.
Down here the TV current affair programs love to get their hands on this sort of thing. They would be knocking on his door asking how come he follows teenage girls on their way home from school. It soon gets them to leave town.

Some one like this obvious sociopath type being dealt with by an individual in a serious fashion is usually just posturing in my mind. The vast majority live out their expected lifetimes. This occurs because it is really difficult to do something like that for the average individual. Heat of the moment usually has to be involved with premeditation not all that common in my opinion.

It may have been good that you did not aquire the restraining order in that it might have created more fixation on you and your family. You cannot configure your mind as a sociopathic type does. Also this one is a very dangerous type as he has murdererd as well. Compounded with a 22 year prison education perhaps in a maximum facility.

So again it was good he targeted the other ladies windshield as well. He at least was not fixating on a sole specific target. Also contrary to a lot of peoples ideals this type of sociopath can be pretty intelligent. If that is so it restrains him from acting directly as he is all too aware at this point the trail would instantly lead to him.

Almost a frustration thing smashing the windshields instead. So more direct action might have been a real consideration of his initially. From his perspective you were interfering. So the police presence is having some effect if not the desired one.

The best hope is that the police have warned him off and he will dissapear from your neighbourhood over time. It also helps that he did not actually act against your daughter as that would have been a total disaster for your family. There is no real justice for a few things.

I also feel a lot of activity by individuals like this may occur as they move around. They can be also a impulsive acting individual or opportunist just not usually. Overall a normal person cannot mentally profile or get a glimpse of their minds or we would be like them. I have dealt with the enigma of some of that to some extent with very young individuals. Individuals with absolutly nio consience are always dangerous to normal people.

Also because of the Ramsey case one would expect your state to move people from outside the state trying to reside there with this kind of history out. Either by harrasement or the direct application of suggestions to do so by the police or other authorities.

The state should not want another serious incident in my opinion. If he persists in residing locally there should be someone in your state that might enable this senario without him ever finding out you were involved. You just have to remember sociopaths can be quite intelligent.

Civil rights are a tricky thing in my mind. Sometimes for the common good they are best semi ignored. Done properly he cannot get any recourse from his position. He is a serious case in my mind.

Residiing there long term something will happen to somebody at some point. He really cannot contain his drives forever. No more than you can stop eating supper. If parents sugested to the principal they might withdraw their kids from that school with him in such close proximity to it he would be gone. The thing is you would need an unknown person to adress the local parents. Your direct involvement has to be really undetectable.

Time works in your favor. You and your family are probably already on his backburner mentally. Keeping out of his line of vision may be smart. It in no ways makes you a coward. You have already done what you could.

Normal pediophiles are common. This guy is a more complex form of one I suspect. Remember I think the smashed windshields were his way of closure or a warning unless you apply more pressure. The restraining order may have been enough to escalate things. You cannot absolutly predict this type.

Now your feeling as a potential victom is normal. The system is not configured to deal with victoms either potential or factual. I think you reached a reasonable age before the awareness presented.

The courts functions at best are to prevent actual application of individual justice by the victom in my opinion. I am not smart but the court used to contact me for sentencing recomendations on younger offenders cases.

I always suggested restitution as part of the sentance and it was applied. My hope was it may make a kid think a little although the courts judged it as a hardship. In otherwords my recommendations were not asked for anymore as I was basically on the victoms side of the equation. Why should their loss not be compensated? Especially if it made the perpetrator aware of the cost of their behaviour.

There is a real negative learning curve involved in this area again just in my opinion. The way I tend to look at things is by following the money. I have been present in court where I count twenty five people in that room on expensive payrolls with every case being basically remanded in one form or another. The cost overall is horrendous in my opinion but it does create jobs I suppose. I have always had doubts if the system deters crime to much of an extent. At the current time it may actually be having an effect of encouraging it many times instead.

Many facets of life are best left unknown or not common knowledge in life. We tend like me to believe many things that are just a rude awakening if we experience them. A fathers job is to protect his family and provide for their welfare and a good enviroment to stimulate the kids to be the best they can by example.

You cannot fool a child by doing less. They read your body language all the time. I do tend to wander unfortunatly. The bottom line is you were very lucky. Your daughter was probably becoming a target of some sort. You will get past this with a heightened awareness of reality in certain areas. All the best.

I was hoping he would disappear from the neighborhood, especially once the landlord evicted his mother from the home in which he was living. Since I had not seen him for a year and no new arrests had shown up in the public records of the court, I thought he might have been gone. This recent arrest puts him right back within striking distance of the elementary school, about a block from where he lived when this began. I don't know if he lives at the address where the arrest took place. It is possible. I am going to keep a close eye out for him.
